Popular Post Relampago. Posted July 7 Popular Post Posted July 7 So is the narrative about Europe swinging right mostly overblown? UK, now France. I understand Germany is definitely moving right and possibly The Netherlands, but is there any other case where that's happening? Not that it should, but it gives me a small amount of hope that the US isn't turning as right wing as it looks 23 1
Mark Rih Posted July 7 Posted July 7 God I love this country so much, Italy better learn a thing or two 9

The coalition is already calling each other names

Klein Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I honestly didn't believe when I saw it. Feeling ecstatic right now. 1
ctlp27 Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I doubt the hard left will be able to form a government. They will get there first, but so far from a majority they will have to bend a lot to claim a government. The real winner, against all odds, is Macron again. He started with 50-70 MPs projected at the beginning of the campaign and is now projected at 150 to 180. Anyway, the big relief is that the far right is so incompetent and stupid that the voters are able to see through it, despite a first round stampede. I wish Americans would do the same with Trump. I think that's a big difference between the two countries (and probably the advantage of a two-round election process). 1
Popular Post Thickorita Posted July 7 Popular Post Posted July 7 Just goes to show that the only way to beat the far right is not by chasing it with watered down policies, but by presenting a counterbalance with leftist and progressive policies. 45 6

YellowRibbon Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Also, Gabriel Attal can finally sleep soundly again while listening to the latest Aya Nakamura record, the guy was in interviews and stuff all week long
The7thStranger Posted July 7 Posted July 7 This is great for now, but I'm nervous for France. Italy pulled similar tactics in an attempt to keep the ball away from the right. And when these efforts did not succeed in the long-term, Meloni rose to power. She's the most stable PM we've had in a very long time, and that's scary. France can't **** this up, because it's their last chance. 1
Grizzo Posted July 7 Posted July 7 so relieved 😮💨😮💨 Bardella is a sore loser, his speech is despicable and full of hate (as usual)
CaptainMusic Posted July 7 Posted July 7 (edited) I'm so confused, the media made it seem like the far right were definitely gonna win this time Well done France Edited July 7 by CaptainMusic 6
