sciencemagic Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) Am I the only one who unironically loves the Gaga x Tony albums, Cheek to Cheek (2014) and Love for Sale (2022)? Perhaps because I sing and am pretty familiar with the genre of jazz standards, but I think their covers are great! Gaga and Tony's voices blend together so well, and you can sense their intense bond through the record. And these albums are just a reminder that Gaga is one of the most talented performers of all time -- who else can do an album of standards with a legend AND make great pop music AND be a butts-in-seats movie star... the others just don't have the RANGE! Some highlights: I Get A Kick Out of You, I've Got You Under My Skin, Do I Love You?, Anything Goes Edited July 6 by sciencemagic 2
Almodusa Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Yeah they're nice listens. It Don't Mean That Thing, Firefly, It's De-Lovely, Lush Life, Anything Goes >>
Illuminati Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I liked Cheek To Cheek, but thought that Love For Sale was underwhelming 1 1
Taylor fanboy Posted July 6 Posted July 6 They are alright. I feel like there's so much great Jazz vocalists and musicians of the past, and the master recordings being old and of their time adds much more flavour and colour. Now this is just me being pretentious, obviously but iygiygi 3
SharGaga Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I also like them. I mostly listened to them the months after release but I remember them lifting up my spirits especially when singing along. Gaga introduced me to Jazz music and thanks to her I discovered Billie Holiday. There's just something about her music and singing that's really special and intimate. 1
Starfish Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Cheek to cheek was okay but love for sale was very poorly done. You can tell they were running on fumes.

Mr. Stratus Posted July 6 Posted July 6 C2C has the nicer vocals and higher highs, Sale is the better album. I actually think since ASIB, 'Sale' has been her best project
creativity. Posted July 6 Posted July 6 C2C is excellent background music during the holidays. I agree with others that L4S was really underwhelming. 1
duybeeGAshantiGA Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) Well people will say I forced myself to like the albums.... when I actually enjoy Jazz music besides Gaga. I am not a jazz expert but I do listen to Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse, Norah, Laufey , etc. So yes I actually love Love for Sale and C2C and I bought the CDs/vinyl. Shimenawa Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) I liked the first jazz era. They should have done a Xmas record instead of Love 4 Flop. Baby it's Cold Outside & Winter Wonderland were nice and it would have done better Edited July 6 by Shimenawa 1
Kiss It Better Posted July 6 Posted July 6 i loveee C2C, the fact is that i used to be OGH but love jazz music and C2C was the first Gaga's album i listened to in full and i enjoyed it so then i got into her music 1
Infernal Paradise Posted July 6 Posted July 6 LOVE C2C. Fun and carefree with some great highlights such as Lush Life, Bang Bang and It Don't Mean A Thing. LFS is a much more mellow, sombre listen (which makes sense since it is Tony's swansong album) but I Get A Kick, Do I Love You, Let's Do It are great. Although L4S is more cohesive and flows nicely, I still prefer C2C.
AvadaKedavra Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) I love it so much. Such a relaxing album. Makes me feel happy but i play it in Xmas. Decided to make those jazz albums my gaga xmas records Havent played Love for Sale. Will probably check in the end of this year Edited July 6 by AvadaKedavra
