futuresuperstar2023 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Bey debut album always gets praised for the singles but never the deep cuts. For R&B this was a good album. It's nowhere near her best but this is not a bad album. Come on now a Few corny tracks like Daddy, Hip hop star and that's what you like shouldn't make this a horrible album. 4 1
Noodles Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Oh you're 100% right but ATRL isn't the audience for this I fear 2 6
Comedor Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Daddy is the only bad song in that album, and it's the last track anyway so whatever. I always stream it from beginning to end. Her BEST ballads are here. 4closure wishes. 1 1 1
Nippy'sReceipts Posted July 6 Posted July 6 DIL fails because of too many filler tracks . It's a singles album just like IASF. Bday original 10 track is her best album and showcases Beyonces personality the best 1 1

Carla Rosón Posted July 6 Posted July 6 It's lowkey top 5 in her discography and way better than bday but you don't see it getting the hype it deserves unlike overrated bdet (especially by some basic hive members and locals)

DIL is slow jams.
Rico Shameless v2 Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Yes, Signs, Be With You, Speechless >> It's definitely crack. 2
BYoncé Posted July 6 Posted July 6 DIL wouldn't be seen as filler filled if they changed the tracklist a tiny bit. Having three of the strongest debut album singles ever as the first three tracks? The rest of the album didn't stand a chance let's be real. If you move Naughty Girl between Signs and Speechless, and drop The Closer I Get To You, you're golden. I choose to also ignore Daddy the same way I ignore Password from Kylie's Light Years album. Sometimes songs are hidden for a reason.

DIL sits in her trinity for me along with Self Titled and Renaissance. Edited July 6 by crf13 1 2
king_queen Posted July 6 Posted July 6 It's an R&B classic. The hits far outweigh the filler...by far one of the best R&B albums that came out of the 2000's. But I get why its under appreciated by "certain" members of the Hive 1
Kiss It Better Posted July 6 Posted July 6 IT IS it's such a great debut and has classics like Crazy In Love and the underrated gem Speechless, the only skip it has is Thats How You Like It (Daddy is cute) i said on another thread that this is as great as Bday (which has a cult fanbase) and i got dragged
Soda Pop Queen Posted July 6 Posted July 6 This was Bey's deliberate "old heads" album and still is. A smart move to debut with an album like this. Those who get it, get it. 1 1
Batsy Armada Posted July 6 Posted July 6 I was too young to fully appreciate it when it very first released. I remember only loving the singles, "Yes" and "Signs." Over time it grew on me, though. While it's not my favorite album from her, it's definitely a solid album that I enjoy revisiting every now and then. Since the edition of the album I now have has "Work It Out" on it, I can say that's my favorite song from it. I'd love if this version of Beyoncé made an encore appearance. I need her to be funky again!
ChooseyLover Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Take Daddy and Hip Hop Star and it's top 3 in her discography.
Nightingale Posted July 6 Posted July 6 It really is good. I was shocked with how good it was since I never hear anyone talk about it 1
