Jimmy. Posted July 7 Posted July 7 She absolutely is. I've been a huge Dannii fan for over 20 years. Girl, Neon Nights and even Club Disco are all fantastic albums. 1

Dannii was planning to release the studio album "Club Disco" via All Around The World Records in Europe, in 2006 but her then label suggested she release a Greatest Hits. Dannii had the final decision, she asked her sister's advise and that advise was to go with the retrospective (which eventuated in the cannibalising of a lot of material intended for Dannii's album). The fans wanted "Club Disco" (not "The Hits & Beyond") but because that compilation contained such a generous amount of tracks envisaged for Dannii's next studio album, the fans purchased the retrospective to get a slice of new material. It was the last time Dannii dented the U.K. album charts in a meaningful way (a main territory for her). After Dannii conceded to the release of the retrospective, All Around The World Records back tracked and grew cold on acquiescing to the release of "Club Disco" in Europe (citing the inclusion of so much material intended for "Club Disco" on "The Hits & Beyond"). Dannii never went in to any more detail about the logic behind her sister's earlier advice, other than to say that advice was the deciding component in Dannii agreeing to All Around The World's proposition. Cue the frustration of many Dannii fans in Europe who wanted "Club Disco" (not "The Hits & Beyond") at that point in time. The reason it was frustrating was because if Dannii had released "Club Disco" in Europe in 2006 off the back of her then recent dance hits (as originally intended), the chart peak of the parent album would have reflected Dannii's then recent success on the singles chart. Instead that momentum was lost on a retrospective that got shoe-horned in to the release schedules in its place. As opposed to "Club Disco" more organically paving the way for the release of a separate Hits compilation in the aftermath of the "Club Disco" era, which would have extended Dannii's chart run on the album chart (instead of precipitating her commercial decline). I can't find the interview in which Dannii discussed the basis of her decision right now but with the internet being what it is, I'm confident it will re-surface in time.
