Kayseri Mantisi Posted July 4 Posted July 4 i was the #1 Windows Phone supporter back in the day insanely well optimized OS with beautiful, colorful & unique UI which all got ruined by other companies refusing to release their apps for it in fear of WP getting bigger than them truly ahead of it's time 1
jomarr Posted July 4 Posted July 4 God i remember being so i obsessed with it. I remember having the Lumia 920, 520, 620, 1520, and 950 XL. The UI is fantastic. What sucked was app support. So i returned to IOS 3

bliaz Posted July 4 Posted July 4 (edited) Windows Phone was good. I wish it would come back. We need more competition. If Huawei has survived, why not Windows Phone? Edited July 4 by bliaz 1 1

ATRL Moderator Legend E Posted July 4 ATRL Moderator Posted July 4 I miss my Lumia 920 so much. Windows was so underrated as an OS. Simple but very nice looking. 2

If Huawei has survived, why not Windows Phone? Even though Huawei got banned by Google, they are still running Android (since it's open source) and Huawei launched their own app store which made people able to use any of the apps they want since you can install anything on Android with apk files. Windows Phone was a completely different OS with a completely different core (you can imagine it as the mobile version of a Windows PC but even more optimized) so it needed brand new apps for it. The phones got popular but rivals like Google & etc refused to release their apps at those days in fear of competition & it's usage slowly decreased as their app store never grew like iOS or Android. It was literally the most opimized mobile OS we ever got (more optimized than iOS & Android) as it was running beyond fluid even on 512mb ram phones . Even on this screenshot you can see that Instagram says "beta" 1
Kakihara Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Mom still has a Lumia laying around, she loved them a lot. I couldn't get into it because the app store had nothing but games, I remember making a Facebook shortcut for mom because the app wasn't available. I wonder if we can achieve that look on android with a custom launcher?

I had the 820 and the 620, and I loved them. Much like it did with the Zune, Microsoft really had no idea what it had on its hands and refused to put its money where it needed to go. Imagine where we'd be had it invested more money into app developer support. Granted, its awful relationship with Google at the time also did not help matters... Edited July 5 by The7thStranger 1
