Papa Don't Preach, Like A Prayer, Erotica, Survival, Music, American Life and Hung Up are all 10/10.

I think Music is my favorite... it's so catchy.

 

Was Candyshop really the lead for Hard Candy? Or do we just pretend, that she never did a song with J**tin T*mberl*ke?

Drowned World by a landslide, but all her opening tracks are incredibly effective at setting the tone for the album and the soundscape

There is something so magical about Drowned World/Substitute For Love  that I had to choose that one.

 

It takes you into the different dimensions and get ready for a real journey the ROL album is.

 

But I feel like all albums except Hard Candy and Madame X have good opening tracks.

 

For COAD, maybe Future Lovers would work as great opener, but my opinion might be biased cause of the Confessions Tour

Voted for Drowned because it's immaculate but also I want to give a shout-out to Survival! So lush and clean and moody. I love it

and that's not even going into Lucky Star, Papa Don't Preach, Music, Hung Up, American Life... so many classics.

I think it is really worth noting that she's incredible at choosing album openers (and final songs too). Even if some of these songs are not masterpieces, they all work incredibly well at setting a mood and introducing the album themes.
