Why aren't Aguilera's streams on par with her peers ?

I just came accross a Twitter thread about popgirl's streams and something surprised me a lot. While many older popgirls struggle with streaming when they release new music which is understandable, old hits still manage to do well even now. Here are a few examples:

  • Shakira - Hips Don't Lie (feat. Wylclef Jean) [2005] : 1.725M
  • Britney Spears - Toxic [2004] - 1.349M
  • Miley Cyrus - Party In The USA [2009] : 1.185M
  • Beyoncé - Crazy In Love (feat. Jay-Z) [2003] : 1.056M
  • Lady Gaga - Poker Face [2008] : 1.030M
  • Rihanna - Umbrella (feat. Jay-Z) [2008] : 1.027M
  • Avril Lavigne - Complicated [2002] : 926k
  • Britney Spears - ...Baby One More Time [1998] : 925k
  • Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music [2008] : 835k
  • Lady Gaga - Just Dance (feat. Colby O Donis) [2008] : 823k
  • Katy Perry - Hot N Cold [2008] : 708k
  • Mariah has AIWFCIY that smashes every year from October to January

The only one whose streams are very low is Legend X. She has two songs receiving at least 100k streams per day (not counting the many features she has done on other artists' music obviously). Genie is her highest with 331k and Marmelade gets 180k.

If you take the 10 most streamed songs right now from Christina's catalog...

  1. Genie
  2. Lady Marmalade
  3. Beautiful
  4. Hoy Tengo Ganas de Ti
  5. Fighter
  6. Dirrty (feat. Redman)
  7. Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti
  8. Candyman
  9. What A Girl Wants
  10. Hurt

...and combine all of their streams, they're receiving around 1.025M a day in total (which is less than just one song from Shakira, Britney, Miley, Gaga, Rihanna, etc).

What is the reason behind Aguilera's poor streams compare to her peers in your opinion ?

Her fanbase does not stream her music. They stream other people but not her.

Serves her right though, the long waits have hurt her career in the streaming era and have hurt her badly, it is what she deserves.

Because she has released 1 English album in the last 10 years. It's a Sunday, the Lord's day. The OXHs cant even take that day off. :deadbanana2: You are obsessed with her.

  2. Ain't Your Mama - 102,052
  3. On The Floor - Radio Edit - 227,887
  4. Jenny from the Block (feat. Jadakiss & Styles P.) - Track Masters Remix - 153,991
  5. Let's Get Loud - 232,897

but they've also kind of stopped releasing right at the start of the streaming era

maybe they will make a return since they've started releasing again

Bad personality, bad press, long wait, outdated image. She's not even getting that legacy act benefit of being able to tour arenas worldwide. She kept switching genres and making good music, but when that certain genre lovers go to search some old stuff, she will it be it, she simply just score 70s in every genres while other girls are legend in their lanes. Also the lesser casual fans praise her the lesser popular she is to the current and old generations leading people to think of her as outdated instead of legend.

Xtina had an incredible successful early years but they did NOT measure up to her peers at the time. Her peers made classic that stood the time. Whilst she made current hits with an exception of a couple. This is why her streams and views are low.

this is kinda maddening because OTF should be getting 1M daily streams just for the cultural reset it was... children, teens, adults, even some hags were DANCING TO IT 💔

Because she's a sh*tty person who has made no effort to change or rehabilitate her public image lol

Xtina is the DEFINITION of vocal powerhouse who has squandered her career with diva behaviour. One of the best voices of our generation wasted on co-hosting a vocal competition on basic cable.

She has not been in the GP eye for like 10 years. ******* here can keep saying she has a bad attitude and whatever, but the GP doesn't care if she bullied your fave in 2001. That's why her biggest hits in the streaming era are linked to The Voice: a TV series that put her on the radar again for some years. But she has the appeal to go viral and match those streams if she only cared tho: Lady Marmalade and Genie in a Bottle are days ahead of going extremely viral.

I don't think her look is outdated? She is not dressed as if she was in 1999.

She had success, she enjoyed it, and she kind of moved on. You should do the same.

Well it is a very interesting question because the delulus always claim Britney "debuted during the peak of cd sales" yet her sales (diamond x2) and streams are a lot higher than a lot of hers and xtinas peers hmmm

Xtina's got 2 songs over a billion streams on Spotify. That's more than Britney. Xtina wins.

and she shares those 2 songs with like ten other men :rip: Britney's are hers :duck:

OT: idk, I actually like a lot of her recent work, especially Liberation was good. I think it's her public image that has never been all that great to begin with, coupled with lackluster and infrequent releases just doesn't add up to legendary streams imo. She needed each of her few albums to be masterpieces a la Sade for that to happen, and unfortunately such did not occur. s:wan:

Britney didn't write Toxic and Cathy Dennis sings most of it. Xtina gets more money from her streams on Feel This Moment than Britney does with Toxic. Xtina writes hits!
