Popular Post BornUnbroken Posted July 31 Popular Post Posted July 31 I just want to remind y'all that charting on the Hot 100 isn't what it used to be and won't define long term success anyway, and we're seeing that so much more with artists that debuted in the streaming era. For example, Madison Beer has multiple songs above 200 million streams on Spotify with "Reckless" having over 500 million and none of her music has ever charted. But she just finished her second theatre tour in the US and is able to tour internationally (at least Europe), and can actually fill places like the Greek theatre, with people actually singing along to album tracks - something Kesha was struggling to even do when the High Road tour was announced. Madison's just one example of many. Kesha (and any artist) should seek to build on a dedicated fanbase and grow touring support, and the way this song is actually stable on streaming is a very good sign of that. Dr. Luke/Kemosabe were TERRIBLE with this when Kesha debuted (other artists on their roster like Becky G included) and negatively affected her in the long run touring wise, which then led to more cuts in her budget for everything else. This (among other obvious previous label issues) is exactly why we are where we are today with Kesha testing the waters to see where she should invest more money for promo. It's better to see Kesha have this low charting, but streaming stable song than have her chart at, say, #63 on the Hot 100 only to disappear the following week with absolutely no anticipation for the following single, less budget for promo, or any long term streaming or viral success. 20

Not to mention I literally never know at least 50% of what's charting these days. Charting doesn't = relevancy. 5 5
Alaska. Posted July 31 Posted July 31 It would be cute to have some 90s vintage merch for Joyride/K6. They've been quite popular 5

This is a really great take. Another example would be Charli xcx, she built her fanbase with regular releases but no chart chasing at all. She's got her acclaim for a while & now she's getting the success. 4 1
gettsleazy Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Part of the strength of her brand has always been her fanbase (the fact that she was able to tour Gag Order in 3-5k+ capacity venues instead of small theaters speaks to that) so it would be really nice to see her to continue to build that. And like the Charli example, as long as the music is good, it will catch on. We could even see a Chappell experience where the whole album is out for x months and then randomly kicks up because of touring and a dedicated group of GP singing its praises. 6

If the songs on the album keep up with the Joyride sound, I could even see random album tracks going viral on TikTok like Ayesha Erotica's discography (but with the music avaliable on Spotify) 4
Joesuxx Posted July 31 Posted July 31 The way this has benefited so much from the backlash of Katy going back to Luke is almost funny.I get you all want her to be a commercial success but as a fan from way back, I'm just happy this happened for her. This is the first time in a long time that her situation has been in the public consciousness and for the gp to show up and give numbers is the first real indicator of public perception outside of stan twitter. Women shouldn't be countersued for speaking their experiences. Consent is a tricky issue to prove and is the reason the majority of SA cases go unpunished. Seeing this level of support must be truly vindicating for her, and an inspiration for every woman who's had their voices silenced by systems and technicalities. That's the real joyride of this entire scenario. 12

And this wasn't even written by Andrew Unterberger a.k.a. the resident Kesha stan at Billboard: https://www.billboard.com/lists/lady-gaga-lg7-wishlist/ 1 1

Kesha can literally work with any person she wants to now and i'm sure Gaga would be much happier working with Kesha and not lining Puke's pockets in the process, which she can now, so they have no reason not to. I don't think the numerous comments and back and forth between them lately are for nothing. 19 minutes ago, SmittenCake said: We're going to need another picture but holy **** she's giving like 00's blonde bombshell bunny realnness in the best way possible Edited August 1 by CroNich 3
