iHype. Posted June 27 Posted June 27 It is based on having a "breakthrough" and Sabrina & Chappell both got their first big hits this year. Tate had "You Broke Me First" in 2020 which reached #2 on Pop radio, has 1.5 billion Spotify streams, and is eligible for at least 5x Platinum. The decision isn't really hard to understand imo. Two of them got notable hits for the first time the past year, one has already had one years prior.
FLAallday Posted June 27 Posted June 27 There is a very blurry line that's existed in this category between being a "new artist" and a "breakthrough artist" but I really don't care they all deserve recognition for their achievements this year regardless.
ForgottenSoul Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Sabrina literally has 5 albums.. they just need to rename it Breakout artist.
Shaner69 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 If Sabrina Carpet is nominated this award is now a Damn joke she had been around 6 albums lol.
