ericcartman Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Taylor Swift speaking would have some impact so it would be nice if she did. Though she's not obligated to. The other two speaking wouldn't do anything anyway.

Black women in America at least already have enough on their plate trying to save democracy as is. If Beyoncé is selective with what she wants to speak out on she has every right to do so and not a soul can force her otherwise. Not saying that's what you said but it's exhausting some of the unfair pressure put on black women to always be the hero and be the clean up crews of white people's messes.

I don't think anyone is asking her to be a hero or to save democracy those who do are just dumb with bey I think the problem is that people put a lot on lemonade especially bc of the political climate of 2016 and she kinda played into it too so now people expect her to continue on that "revolutionary" path when in retrospect that was just an era aesthetic so when she does things like the Tiffany deal after the gift, what's better than 1 black billionaire 2 or doesn't speak out during these times people are shocked but then again why expect a popstar to be this revolutionary figure I feel like everyone is to blame, the scholars and critics, fans, the gp, bey and her team she definitely should've dropped a I'm not your savior like Kendrick after getting dragged by noname
Slap Posted June 24 Posted June 24 No they are pop stars not activists/politicians/victims of the conflict why do we want entertainers to be forced to give unqualified opinions about conflicts they probably don't know anything about? It doesn't help anybody and is hollow and meaningless. If they actually want to speak on it, then sure, but I still don't care to get my news about global conflicts from wealthy entertainers.
