I think you'd be surprised to discover a lot of women listen to Charli too. There's a very strange homophobic energy coming through your statements tbh. So what if gay men like Billie and Charli's albums. Are straight people the only ones allowed to define what is good and what is bad?

Yes straight white women are the only people allowed to define what is good and bad

What's even the point of this thread :rip: Gays have no taste and only albums that straight white girls like should be praised?

This thread is so embarrasing, just close it sis, and maybe work in your internalized homophobia (and taste)

OP really attacked and called the entire gay community lame and out of touch just to defend and lift TTPD :skull:

This is cult ****

Even tho I don't dislike TTPD completely we can collectively (gay or straight) admit that it was the worst album by a major popstar in 2024.

And these threads just further prove that main point.

"Critics are out of touch" 1991 album is #18 on the apple music best of list :rip:

YEAH I AGREE. How is that disgusting album above any Bjork album? Or any Mariah album? They are out of touch.

and you deserve to be banned from this website because of all the homophobia you just shtted out. Swifties are really the most homophobic people i have ever seen its shocking :biblio:

Poptimism has definitely poisoned the well in the critical community, yeah.

I also think critics now are much more reluctant to give negative reviews to anyone except the most easy targets (eg Ed Sheeran) for a few reasons: critics are afraid of getting doxxed by rabid stans, publications are scared of getting accused of racism/sexism/etc, and I think there's also a greater conscientiousness on the part of critics that their reviews (mostly at bigger-name publications like Pitchfork) hold a considerable amount of sway and can at times affect an actual artist's livelihood.

The friends in question:

This weak ass drag. I actually don't have a single white friend. They're from India, turkey, Nigeria, Cyprus, Iran, and Latin America, and they all collectively called her music trash :gaycat4:

I don't know why you people are shocked that music popular on Twitter and internet forums is very niche.

Y'all never read reviews to get a sense of why something is praised.

Learn to think about music outside of yourself and your own personal taste (or lack of taste).

I recommend The Quietus' review of BRAT.

Also, again, being this personally bothered by critics is always going to be crazy. Be secure in what you like. 2 of my favorite albums of the year have pissy reviews, and I couldn't care less.

I think you're placing way too much weight on the scores and reviews these critics give. Does it really matter? It's all completely subjective so who really cares if Joe Bloggs gave something 1 star? Your point didn't warrant being homophobic...
