Celine comes to mind, no shade. Also, I was listening to Robbie Williams' Greatest Hits album and, whew, it was excellent for the most part. God-tier British pop. I'm thinking Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Cher, Barbra Streisand… It's just how it was back in the day. The women and their music were treated purely as products, made for cheap consumption with quick turnarounds between records. Disposable cover versions in lieu of proper new tracks, or just very obvious singles tacked on to an extra 5-6 filler tracks. I can give you that BOMT (album) sounds of its time and you have to be in this nostalgic mood to listen to it. I admit I never listen to it these days but it was certainly not a bad album. It's always been considered a great album. The following albums Oops and Britney are amazing, even besides the singles. There are bops and gems and they still sound great today. OT: To me the best example for this thread would be Rihanna. Everyone knows and loves a lot of her hits but the albums were almost all rushed. I'll give you Oops and Britney, which are solid, but GH:MP still gives you a solid rundown of her teen-pop work.
