prettyinpink940 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Because I don't think a lot of people in the real world care about this stuff (not saying they're right).

MusicLoverDude Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I mean, Katy is almost 40 and she had a horrible flop period 7 years ago. That alone is gonna put a damper on her chart success. If the song is simply bad though, which the fanbase says it might be, it will perform worse than both Stupid Love and yes, and? for sure, along with Daisies
Daddy Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I think it's gonna positively impact it's first week. The Luke headlines will bring people to stream it at least once to see what's up and then forget about it.
SharGaga Posted June 20 Posted June 20 The song simply isn't good. People saying the leak is AI are honestly in denial. The chorus has stacked vocals and adlibs which isn't possible with AI and it sounds like quintessential Katy. It kind of reminds me of Stupid Love with a chorusless chorus and how dated it sounds. I never had any hope of Katy magically becoming an amazing songwriter in her late 30's but seems like y'all did because of nostalgia or whatever. Good luck with the comeback. This is looking like Smile 2.0 but worse. 2
Junipero Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Outside of Pop music forums on Reddit and Twitter, do people even know who Dr. Luke is? If the music is going to flop it is going to be because it is bad. If the music is going to be good, you will never hear the end of Katy Kats rubbing it in Kesha's fans faces. 1
Archetype Posted June 20 Posted June 20 GP doesn't care about him, they'll stream the song if it's good and the marketing is successful. 1
Johnnyboi Posted June 20 Posted June 20 No, being a Katy Perry song in 2024 is what's gonna hurt its performance. 2
bielneira Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (edited) Outside Twitter, nobody cares. People might not even know who Dr. Luke is. What will impact its chart performance is its outdated production and superficial lyrics. edit: unless someone makes a video that goes viral on TikTok Edited June 20 by bielneira
popmusicisdead Posted June 20 Posted June 20 yes. it'll debut #25 on the Bubbling Under charts instead of Top 3
alfonso12 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Say so, Kiss me more and Super freaky girl were Dr. Luke smashes so if the song flops it'll be because of the song itself. 3

Bussea Posted June 20 Posted June 20 the song was going to flop regardless. but we can blame it on puke if it makes us feel better 3

Orsay Posted June 20 Posted June 20 lets be real, its going to flop because its a Katy Perry single in 2024

manuelalex9810 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 The GP doesn't care about the case and doesn't know who Dr. Luke is, if the song is good and has a good promotion people will eat it up.

bliaz Posted June 20 Posted June 20 In the end those who make a hit song is the GP and not just the stan world. They don't care who sings or produces X song, if they like it, they like it, period.
Polgg48 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 woman's world would only be a hit with doja on her additional rap lines and twists. katy... i dare say if she's on PPP or espresso, they wont chart at all
Tm4074 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Nah judging from the snippet she posted it's going to flop because it sounds terrible and Katy Perry has negative chart power in 2024. I have to hand it to Katy though nobody flops quite like her. From Witness with the bad haircut and purposeful pop of it all to dressing up as a literal clown for Smile and now she's releasing a female-empowerment anthem that sounds straight out of 2012 produced by a rapist. Nobody does it like her.
HASHTAGPOW Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I don't think soccer moms and my 50 year old father and his friends cares about this
Rotunda Posted June 20 Posted June 20 The average person has no idea who Dr. Luke does. Unless her working with him results in a viral article or TikTok that sparks a lot of backlash, it won't impact much. It'll probably just fail for being bad.
