Gen Z Black Pop Stars?

Recommended Posts

There's been a lot of talk about the new pop girlies like Tate, Sabrina, Chapell.

But I'm wondering, though we have an influx of Black girlies too in the music scene, how many of them would you say are also POP Girlies? Like who would you classify as a Black Pop Girlie or Black Pop Boy?

I count SZA as a part of the 2020s new MPGs despite her debuting last decade (sort of like Celine didn't debut in the 90s but is still regarded as a 90s MPG) even if she's much older than them (J.Lo was Britney and Xtina's peer despite her almost turning 30 and them being teenagers and yet they are all 2000s MPGs).

So there's her and I would love for Tyla to breakt through properly. Or maybe Tinashe.

90% of the names in here being millennials :deadbanana2:

Tyla and PinkPantheress are the only two established gen Z girls that might fall into the pop category that I can think of

Outside of pop there's Sexyy Red and Ice Spice

Also Ayra Starr deserves a mention, Rush is a bop

A lot of the names mentioned became stars during the current Gen Z generation and have a fanbase mainly consisted of Gen Zers, which technically makes them stars of our generation:gaycat1:

I agree with everyone else naming Normani, Tyla, PinkPantheress, etc in terms of Gen Z born artists.

She didn't break through commercially (at least not to the extend like she is now) until the 2020s alongside Olivia and Billie. I've already mentioned it but Jennifer Lopez isn't called out for being gen-X and seen as the peer of Britney and co. even though she's a decade older. It's the same with Sza, she's one of the biggest breakout artists for the gen-Z generation.

She's the same age as me but in my head she's as old as Billie lol

She's at most biracial like Mariah and Hasley but she is not black like Rihanna or Beyonce.

Yeah, she's mixed. Her father is black and her mom Dominican. So saying she's black ain't wrong.
