Gladiator Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I prefer Ultraviolence. Its my favorite in her discography, but Honeymoon is in my top 3 and very close. My preference for Ultraviolence is probably influenced a lot by nostalgia. I listened to it obsessively during a very formidable time in my life that I look back on with the most amount of fondness.
badidearight Posted June 19 Posted June 19 honeymoon but both albums are in my best of all time list 1
Daddy Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Both amazing but I would always listen to UV if I had to decide. 1
VeniceBeach Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Honestly it depends on my mood which one is my #1 today, both are masterpieces
Burn Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Ultraviolence, but only by a smidge. Lana doesn't have a single bad album, so it's always hard.
Jay07 Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Honeymoon. I prefer that widescreen, cinematic vibe than the psychedelic rock of Ultraviolence and the melodies on Honeymoon are lush. 2
WaterDiamonds Posted June 19 Posted June 19 (edited) They're too entirely different vibes even if HM has a few reworked songs from UV. Ultraviolence feels like a stormy day in july, with thunders threatening to set it all on fire and an unceasing rain that makes you think the sky is melting, all wrapped together in a hot and heavy atmosphere that makes it hard to breathe; while honeymoon feels like vacationing in an italian villa where the sun's reflection in the sea blurs the lines between the ocean and the blue sky, and despite the beauty of it all, melancholy is still in the air. I think they're pretty equal in terms of quality, you'll like more the one that resonates more with your mindset Edited June 19 by WaterDiamonds 2 1
Ponzi Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I love UV a lot but the middle section brings it downs a bit for me. HM has a flawless run up until the last few tracks, and even then they're cute as closers. It's HM for me.
EdgeofTeeth Posted June 19 Posted June 19 Both are near-masterpieces but to me, Honeymoon is the most "Lana Del Rey" album in her discography. That album embodies her darkly wistful and nostalgic early persona the best, and it plays like the soundtrack of a 1950s film noir. So pristine, gorgeous, and immersive — you can just sink into it and get lost.
Illuminati Posted June 19 Posted June 19 I find Honeymoon to be an easier listen overall but they are both GOD tier
Le Grande Posted June 19 Posted June 19 This is very tough for me; UV will always be the IT girl, but Honey is just so lush and edges it out ever so slightly. Perhaps on a different day, I would choose UV, but today it is as it is.
Kimi Posted June 19 Posted June 19 uv is her lowest point as a lyricist, even tho the music is a vibe sometimes its hard to listen to because of those ******* words. honeymoon ain't a poetry either but it's much better and overall maybe her best album.
Sawk Posted June 20 Posted June 20 As I've gotten older I've appreciated Honeymoon more and I think it's the better record overall, but UV is a masterpiece
