Because behind the booming bass, blaring drums, and legendary guitar riffs, the lyrics paint a picture of a world in disarray. When deep diving into the lyrics we find that Ozzy is touching on global fears of the state of the world, particularly in regards to impeding nuclear war threats. 1980 was when rampant fears of the Cold War began and relations with Russia were at a low once more. When Ozzy says "inheriting troubles...I'm mentally numb" he's touching on the cornerstone of every global issue passed down to younger generations. For him, it was the resurgence of communistic dictatorship that many had thought was over after the 1960s. For us, it's the resurgence of fascist authoritarianism (among other global disasters). This issue is highlighted clearly in his lines "millions of people living as foes" and "one person conditioned to rule and control, the media sells it and you live the role", where we see how propaganda works overtime to divide and conquer ordinary people to distract from the evil that is trying to control us. Despite dire conditions, he remains hopeful that love can overcome hate but as of right now, in a tongue-and-cheek manner, he exposes how we are all crazy for falling into their traps and how the mental duress of living in such times can be head-spinning. The "crazy train" represents the society as a whole we find ourselves stuck in, which in 2024, is as relatable as ever.

In short: we're still aboard the crazy train
