modeblock Posted June 23 Posted June 23 Yes, we will be strihming the chicken on dbreezus once and never again (unless it's an 11/10, in which case, I won't pretend I won't listen to it). That said, her actions are garbage and indefensible. I'm glad Kesha is at least legally free from that sick monster, even if she can't drag them both to the pits of hell like they deserve because of the settlement. 6

CroNich Posted June 23 Posted June 23 (edited) 12 hours ago, Sprite said: So anyone who listens to this song is a misogynist? Alright... Well… yes, technically. If you chose to support a man who has a history of violence and especially sexual violence against women at the sake of the safety of other women in the industry then yes that is inherently misogynistic. However, I also believe there's no such thing as ethical consumption under capitalism anyway so I'm not going to whole-heartedly judge people based on what they consume if it's something that brings them joy. What I am judging is the people who take the time out of their day to jump on a pop-culture forum or twitter to defend, promote and celebrate a man who has a reputation in the industry as being grossly misogynistic, controlling, abusive and down right harmful to myriad of women in the industry for the sake of a 2:30 long generic, dated, recycled "bop", to fill the void in what must be their incredibly empty, lonely lives. I have never seen another circumstance where I'm seeing people, specifically gay men, openly cheer on and celebrate the advances and triumphs of a man accused of literally drugging and raping a woman, just in spite of said woman simply because it either 'ruined' their faves career or caused their fave to face backlash. At the end of the day no one besides the two of them knows exactly what happened that night, so the rest of us at some point have to chose who to believe. I find it hard to believe that people, after looking at the entire situation, and the wider context of the history of SA and why there is literally zero benefit for a woman to go public with something like this if it were not true, would 'side' with a man who is proven to be very dark-sided controlling, manipulative, slimy, greedy, as well as being hated and boycotted by multiple other women and other names of the industry, over a woman who has nothing but a stellar reputation among her peers, with no real problematic background and no controversial incidents, without their being an ultrerior motive. My point is, all this has come to a head because the Katy Cats can not handle the criticism that Katy has been rightfully subjected to and are now online championing Dr. Luke and Katy's decision to work with him, as well as unleashing a tirade on the actual victim in all this, calling Kesha fat, ugly, posting death threats, wishing more rape on her (right on the eve of their fave releasing a so-called 'female empowerment anthem of all things) over some petty, toxic stan culture mentality and their desperate desire for the validation of having a fave who isn't a complete wash-up flop. Honestly if Stan culture becomes important enough to be studied historically at some point, people will look at this situation and how Katy's fans have been responding and retaliating and be truly disgusted and gobsmacked. Like others have said you don't have to stand by every single decision your fave makes. You can still support them while being critical of their choices. The fact that so many of these fans have responded by doubling down on Katy's poor choices and in turn started publicly bashing a rape victim all over twitter says a lot about the people who support Katy, and quite honestly Katy herself. ChooseyLover Posted June 23 Posted June 23 (edited) What's up with all these Christina Aguilera stans supporting Dr. Luke? Britney is the one with music produced by him on her catalogue and we are far more supportive of abuse victims than you all are. Edited June 23 by ChooseyLover 3
John Slayne Posted June 23 Posted June 23 i'd be lying if i said i wasn't gonna listen to it, but i'm not a massive katy fan and the snippet sounds bad so i don't think i'll play the song a lot at all. katy perry was going to flop regardless so from her label's perspective getting Dr Puke on board was a safe gamble as there was a small chance he'd produce something catchy. he might be a horrible person but he does have many hits under his belt. i'm under no illusion that katy is some progressive icon, the song is obviously a cheap attempt to make some coins off pop feminism, which actually sounds on brand for katy.
Daddy Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I'm too old for Katys trash music. She has nothing interesting to say... 1
Doctor Dick Posted June 25 Posted June 25 It sounds like a potential bop but the name attached to it makes me not want to support it.
Bhabylon Posted June 25 Posted June 25 i will not, but i'm sure i'll hear it at a Macy's or something
