I'm unsure how what appears to be a Robo Sl*t Pop album for Katy produced by Dr. Luke will be received by the general public, though. Although, to be fair, I did enjoy both Sl*t Pops.

The general public will not care about Dr. Luke's involvement. They also will not care about a Katy Perry album. That is why the only option was for Katy to cater to her fanbase and people who are chronically online and thusly know about Dr. Luke. She ruined that chance. Those groups of people were stoked about a Katy Perry comeback and this is her response.

I believe she had an opportunity to gain some positive attention from people outside her usual fan base. I've seen her name mentioned in discussions where people thought Taylor Swift was acting petty due to some songwriting credits drama. And the fact that Witness got overshadowed by reputation felt unfair to some. Plus, her time on American Idol probably helped connect her to an older audience as well.

The moment she started teasing KPSEX and the rumors about Dr. Luke became more and more prominent, I was afraid of her 'KimPetrasification,' and rightfully so. The instrumental in 'WW' sounds straight from Petras' discography, and she just recently released 'S*** Pop Miami,' which probably has the worst lyrics I've ever heard. So, I assume Katy was likely influenced into that sound and style by Luke.

Please for the love of God stop acting like this man is some hot commodity who Katy has had no choice but to align with. He has only been "embraced' by rappers with said rappers being The Kid Laroi of all people and slithering his way onto a dead artist's album whom never worked with him while alive, all to be now best known for producing a Lil Durk single.

 

He has tried to force his work onto female rappers with even people like Saweetie and Tay Money saying they had no clue who he was and that the beats they got came from bundles their label purchased for them from work with people like Theron Thomas or LunchMoney Lewis. His biggest act - Doja - hates him and outright said he didn't work on songs he was credited for because she was upset at the reality that such vanity credits take away from the production work she does. 

 

This man is forced upon the industry with his MLM scheme ass publishing company despite being a washed up creepy old dude skulking in the background and corner of photos that RX Songs female millennial staffers post on social media of writing camp trips to Cabo and company wide dinners at fancy LA restaurants. 

 

Katy hedging her bets and career on this man of all people shows she still has no clue why people actually enjoy her music.

This album campaign and photoshoot so far are literally tailor made for those "chronically online pop gays". The visuals are serving futuristic ***** / Arca on a budget and the producers roaster is a gays fever dream. They have been repeating stuff like "Get ready to pop off!!", "giving the gays everything they want" and yet those gays are cooking her ass and this abomination of a song. She had one job and she failed at it miserably. She could be having an EMOTION/BRAT moment right now if she came back with a good combo of great visuals and an excellent bop.

I understand that Katy had other options for KP6, and working with Dr. Luke might not have been the most prudent choice. At all. However, I also see why she could've been influenced by the chart success of songs like Say So, Kiss Me More, and Super Freaky Girl.

 

And I completely understand why it might be confusing when Gen Z continuously praises her old collaborations with Dr. Luke on tiktok. It seems like there's a disconnect between their appreciation for those hits and the current backlash against Dr. Luke in the industry.

He worked on Ariana's fantastic new album. Her very own 'We Can't Be Friends' is all she needed, and it's also completely in her wheelhouse. Max Martin very much still has it with the right people. There was no reason for her to need to work with anyone else than mainly Max's team to be honest.
