halcyonday Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Maybe we can follow the Dua route she goes on vacanza all the time, gets payola'd radio hits despite awful streaming numbers and does a concert here and there 2 3 2

BlueBlue Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Well 2010 was truly the prime time of the pop world. I was listening to Katy without the whole world telling me that she is making bad music. People weren't that chronically online at this time much like now so there was less hate. It's time to be 100% selfish. This is a pop banger and even when the whole world hates her I'm not chaning my mind. Hyped for this era still 6

FabForAThrowback Posted July 14 Posted July 14 The fury from press and haters towards Katy is really insane. It's ridiculous atp, also considering it's something that happens over and over again everytime she releases an album. And what is most embarrassing it's pretending of not knowing that she has always played with irony and satire. Like how could WW video ever be taken seriously? Cmon, we're not all dumb immature haters. 3

Phaunzie Posted July 14 Posted July 14 (edited) 1 hour ago, Sannie said: And it turns out, we were all right about everything we said. Are you gonna cry about it? "Smear campaign"... do you know what a smear campaign is? Nothing about the reaction to this song and video was pre-planned like actual smear campaigns are. Nobody is sitting around a table thinking of ways to lash poor, innocent Katy Perry. The response Katy has received has been organic backlash to both bad content and bad decisions by Katy herself. If Katy and her fans had the ability to analyze media and the current pop/cultural climate like her "haters" do, maybe she wouldn't be in this position. So this doesn't classify as a smear campaign? Like I don't have to look that hard for others. Do you know what a smear campaign is? Wait, do you work in politics, PR or the like? Share below babes. Originally, I was gonna post some of your quotes made in recent months on Katy, shockingly none of them surprised me seeing as you clearly are stuck in 2014. Like that Chromatica comparison, girl wow that was pretty hilarious, a ring pop honestly. However, I have decided to embrace my inner kindness punk, I would love to give you a hug. It sucks that you are so enamoured with Katy Perry. I personally wish I could like her as much as you hate her. Sadly I am not that obsessed. Here is the hug. So very kindness punk of me, I know. Gaga would be proud. Edited July 14 by Phaunzie
JayJay Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Listen. All we can hope is Dr Luke is not involved in the next singles (I don't know if thats possible). And even if that was the case the mistake has been done. She had momentum, she had people waiting for her comeback and chose the worst song possible to do so. If you want to do a mindless bop do a mindless bop about dancing or coffee. If you want to do a political song, do it well and make it coherent with your choices. All that falls in between is just not going to work And then you have songs that do not intend to be political but can open really interesting conversations about feminism like Joyride and Girl so confusing w Lorde. Joyride is just kesha having fun and reclaiming her sexuality, which in itself, its political The latter is the feminist anthem of the year bcause while not being pretentious, it manages to capture a feeling of sorority and feminine experience that woman's world wished it had. You just can't force it. To quote Katy perry herself, that's how you do it. Hope she takes it into account. Everything went to **** when she decided to have him in the record and although i still feel i can enjoy the era even if it doesn't do it good, I can't help but to be disappointed. 2
Ramcoro Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Maybe should release an extended version, and a few different versions? Or give and release single 2 soon.
JayJay Posted July 14 Posted July 14 That being said, people are hopping onto the hate bandwagon for interactions and that's clear. Call it what you want but its still trendy to hate on katy perry 6

Sadie Saxton Posted July 14 Posted July 14 The way that there's a rampant hate train out and this site's having 30+ threads made daily and Katy's home not giving a single **** 10
FabForAThrowback Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Plus I really don't understand why other artists can do songs with "meant to be ironic" lyrics while Katy not. 1

Its not that, it's the fact that the song is in the fence abt it. The lyrics are not clearly ironic. It lacks the punchline acknowledging it is indeed not a woman's world. And dr luke producing it just threw it to the "not ironic-how dare she" side 2
JayJay Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I just hope she releases Nirvana as the second single, or Gimme Gimme. When u receive backlash like this i feel a darker sound would work better? I know a lot of you like Lifetimes but after all this i wouldn't say is a good choice and it would be the last nail in the coffin 1
