She's been a target, with people mocking her since 'Witness' for trying too hard to be relatable. Now, in an attempt to be taken more seriously as a 'pop girl', she tried to return to her most successful formula, the empowerment themes of Roar and Firework. However, she decided to reconnect with a known woman abuser and inexplicably maintain her 'comedic/satire' camp style in a women's empowerment song. There are so many things wrong with her approach this time, it's no surprise she's facing ridicule.

Nothing is going to work after this. She has dug the hole too big and she won't be able to crawl out. The final nail in the coffin will be the horrendous H100 debut. Had she released a regular song that flopped without the Dr. Luke-induced backlash from critics, she could've possibly recovered, but she caused this entire era to be DOA.

Kesha is being kind at this point. She has every right to lash Katy and actually join in on the backlash, but she's not. She is being the bigger person, not mentioning Katy at all, and enjoying the organic growth and success of her new single. The fact that you people keep thinking everything she does is related to Katy just goes to show you know Katy is in the wrong.

Although the Dr. Luke involvement has helped create additional backlash, the song and video being bad is ultimately what did this in. The vast majority of people disliking and commenting negatively are not privy to the ins and outs of the Dr. Luke controversy. Many a popstar have done controversial things and then gone on to be successful because they released a song that connected with the public. Katy and her team misjudged the political climate and thought something about "feminism" would pop off, when in reality people nowadays want genuinely fun, thoughtful pop music that distracts them from the dread that is the current state of politics.

Unfortunately clearly the song was gonna be hated regardless, evident by the numerous smear campaigns, the random video essays on Katy Perry and obsession with Katy's downfall (you fit in this category). Hell, even before Dr. Luke was confirmed you and others like you were in a rage due to unconfirmed information. Running to ATRL to bash an AI version of the song and going on tangents on why the video would be worse.

 

So I'm gonna take what you said with a grain of salt, because clearly you were never gonna like it in the first place. Since release, you have stayed in this thread, complaining about how it is so bad, so problematic and have been trying to convince the Katycats to abandon ship. As if people hadn't been on the lookout to trash her, especially after the Trump elections and Witness. I do believe it has to do with questionable decisions but for certain audiences she never had a shot anyways, her last era showed us that. WW isn't bad content but controversy aside people just aren't there for her like you aren't and probably weren't going to be anyway so give us a break, we got it.
