Do yall think that if she released something like Say So or Super Freaky Girl produced by him she wouldn't get a hit? The reason why WW is not doing well is bc it's simply not hit material. Yeah, I agree that most of the general public doesn't know or care Dr. Luke produced the song. I am seeing more social media chatter about Katy just being out of touch... This one girl on TikTok clocked Katy's entire understanding of feminism as being outdated and unwanted by women in 2024... like the Rosie the Riveter aesthetics and peeing in a urinal. She basically went on to say, while Katy has always been known for being camp she comes across as corny in 2024. I kinda agree that this song feels a bit a surface level and too on the nose. Some of the other snippets she teased sounded better.

Release a sexy song then, it's very confusing tbh. One of her biggest issues is the lack of consistency with the era's themes. Witness was promoted as a purposeful pop era but when CTTR underperformed, they rushed to release Bon Apetit and Swish Swish Witness (song) and Power were right there, and could somehow still be linked to the initial theme. Smile was just I mean each single was its own era, no uniformity or cohesiveness between the visuals. A mixtape. She didn't even try. She needs to stick to a proper theme and plan. If this is a dance era, take us to the dance floor. i actually think it's offensive to call woman's world a feminist song Is it feminism to just sing statements/adjectives?

Katy is the only one get dragged for working with him. She is held to a different standard and a hatetrain gaslighted by a certain fanbase. She wouldn't smash with any other Luke song

Green Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Well at least her WW placement is better compared to her US performance Spotify: #58 Global #53 Brazil #108 UK #110 US #183 Canada Brazil is probably her highest market right now
_Fey Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Y'all are too online. She's getting dragged heavily for the Dr Luke stuff online, but the GP is just finding the song and video super cringe. All the criticisms I'm seeing from locals have nothing to do with Dr Luke, and instead are about this almost 40 year old singing about female empowerment the way you'd expect a 5 year old to write it. 5

Yeah, the GP don't know or care what a Dr. Luke is. They just didn't like or connect with the song/video.

JayJay Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Honestly i hope she learns the lesson. She just shouldn't have gone back to dr Luke. We katycats didn't want it either
365 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Well, this has been an absolutely disastrous roll out. To think some of you were actually actively hoping she'd release with Luke months ago, and some of you saying "twitter isn't real life" when I brought up the lashings the other days. With Katy, social media lashings always impact her success. She messed things up majorly by choosing someone who was accused of rape for a female empowerment lead single. I'm sad, and very disappointed but everyone involved in making the choice to work with him again should have seen this reaction coming off a mile off. It's her and her team's own fault and honestly at this point I don't even know how she can come back from this mess. 5
JayJay Posted July 13 Posted July 13 (edited) And about the video,,, listen if you're going for a tongue in cheek, satirical video, you have to have a punchline or else it doesn't work. Its just clearly comedic, which could've been a critic to women being only worthy when they perform well in "men's" jobs, but without the twist it falls flat. Its just meaningless nonsense that can be also criticised of using feminism as an aesthetic and in a parody tone. I dunno i kinda wished and expected more from her. She did have this satirical campy videos in the past, but i feel they were more connected and had those twists im missing Edited July 13 by JayJay

I guess she thought that she had nothing to lose so she returned to dr luke. Bad choice.. the song is also mediocre for a comeback lead single..

Androo9 Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Y'all need to chill, it's not a bad song but everyone including GP had high expectations thinking she is gonna do another TD. Maybe it wasnt strong enough lead for 2024 but it's not over she has bangers on that album based on the snipped we heard. 1
xTurn Posted July 13 Posted July 13 The song is not good, I'm surprised that nobody on her team has said that the song is bad for a comeback single. The snippets we've heard so far sound much better than this. I don't understand why release a mid song as comeback single.
