Buffy Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This is one of the worst songs I've heard. It's like ME! level irredeemably bad.
Nashe Posted July 12 Posted July 12 the collective circle-jerking from online-gay bullies will never fail to leave me stunned. Just say you hate it and move on, but constantly come in here & other threads picking on a woman who has done absolutely nothing to you is a sign for urgent therapy sessions. Like tell me, what kind of satisfaction do yall get from it? Just sad & miserable. 1 10

Right nothing wrong with a little variety. Ironically, when nothing matches, it all matches. Like a quilt or mosaic.

Like some of the worst I've heard in years. I honestly think they should have just thrown a third chorus in the beginning instead of the teasing one line in the distance. But then that problem is the chorus already is the same line repeated for 3 out of the 4 lines, so throwing in a third chorus might have made it nails on a chalkboard for listeners. A disaster. The verses, melodically, are blah but the build up is super strong and the pre-chorus is fire. You just have to embrace the stupidity of the lyrics. There's nothing on them as bad as Chinese water torture or Marilyn Monroe on a pick-up truck, they're just vapid incoherent phrases. 4
Bends Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Set in a "male gaze" world, it features Perry singing the lyrics while dressed as a skimpy Rosie the Riveter and using power tools as well as drinking whiskey before being crushed by a falling anvil. After awakening in a white knit bikini and bionic legs, she goes off to explore a new area, stopping once to fuel herself with a gas pump. Perry joins Trisha Paytas in a monster truck, and they ride it until crushing a car. Perry exits the truck to walk through a nearby house and smashes through a glass door in the back. She sees another woman using a female gender symbol-shaped light for a video which she takes for herself. After being asked repeatedly "Who are you?" she screams "I'm Katy Perry" while flying away on a helicopter (with the tail number KP6143 in reference to the album). I mean... JT55331 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I know this is ATRL so I should know better but I literally hate the negativity here. Everyone was asking her for a return to Teenage Dream (aka bubblegum pop). She comes back with that nostalgia and she is panned. She literally can do nothing right, and it makes me sad. This woman was an icon in my teenage years, and even if i'm in the minority, i'm going to just enjoy 8 3

thismoment Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This is her Big Foot.. but worse bc the album hasn't been released yet 1
Badgalbriel Posted July 12 Posted July 12 like, if you're going to ruin your career by working with a rapist, at least make sure you're going down with a banger, otherwise, what's the point? 3

Honestly, you are low key right, even if I wouldn't word it that way. Not every song has to be "super deep." And most songs people claim are deep are not that deep...

If there's an artist or a song that I don't like, I literally move on in 5 seconds and forget about it forever. I have no time in my life to even be bothered with pop things that I don't enjoy. But people just LOVE to hate on her. They don't just want to share criticism of the music or her other choices, they want to feed off the drama and negativity. Like you said, it's a collective circle jerk. I think it's just miserable. 7
Jackson Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The way it's actually so catchy when you stop taking it seriously. You cannot make me hate this song 7

It will barely cross the 2M mark today which is not enough to debut in the WW spotify chart. It's getting worse and worse, at this point I'm like that Camila Cabello stan who hates everything she does
May Posted July 12 Posted July 12 from an outsider perspective I don't think this is flopping at all by her standards ? what are y'all's criteria for katy flopping in 2024 im interested to see which benchmarks she didn't meet

This song doesn't have any of the essence that songs from teenage dream had, it's basic and uninspired. 1 1
