PopKills Posted July 12 Posted July 12 4 minutes ago, Ghost said: The song misses a bridge. With it, it could have been MAJOR, but it settles on just good imo. Her vocal performance is great and the production is very well made, I love how it feels like an 80s synthpop throwback but robotic/futuristic at the same time. What I'm wondering though is... Why has this rollout been super promoted and focused so far if they aren't going to invest in the song's playlist reach? Is it to make up for it? Not sure what they're trying to achieve here, because judging from how this comeback has been presented, it seemed like Capitol was going to go all out but apparently... it isn't My theory is that Capitol just doesn't want to invest a lot into this era bc of Witness/Smile flops and that Katy has funded most of the promo so far? Either way they're incredibly stupid for not investing into playlists. 1

She never needed Dr. Luke. Anyway, CFTS and IY are 10x better than WW
Ghost Posted July 12 Posted July 12 6 minutes ago, OrgVisual said: I think the "super promoted" part is mainly from Katy's side and it didn't involve.... much money. Like what did she do? - Some TikToks & all the live streaming - FREE - Album listening parties - kinda standard practice for everyone - Paris Fashion Week - you are normally invited to be there, you don't pay to be there - Photoshoot - it LOOKS expensive but usually a photoshoot doesn't cost much if there's a great concept - Video - at the end I don't think the MV is that high-budget 4 minutes ago, PopKills said: My theory is that Capitol just doesn't want to invest a lot into this era bc of Witness/Smile flops and that Katy has funded most of the promo so far? BabyBenzz Posted July 12 Posted July 12 12 minutes ago, Musicmajor said: The video was so insane, my jaw was literally open at the end like what did I just watch? There are a lot of easter eggs in there which is fun. Having the full song now, I think it's good. I don't get the urge to replay it though, unfortunately. I think as a bridge single into the new era, It's smart to do this as the lead. It's reminiscent of her older stuff (empowering anthems). Next single needs to bring IT! even if her next single brings IT, she lost all her momentum by releasing this mess of a song and surrounding herself with abusers.. it's all downhill from here... the era is over before it even started
SeeingStars1515 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I love Teenage Dream - a seminal pop record This is absolutely awful 2

Katy is so out of touch and she needs a team guiding her instead of the yes men she surrounds herself with. I've been saying this for a decade 4
magazine Posted July 12 Posted July 12 the tired ass beat it's an okay song, it's not bad having to call Dr Luke, make another memed-video, sexualize everything again to make sure this is greenlit by the label is so..... reductive Katy, gurl..... This has to be a hit, 'cause I fear for her.

Britneystan32 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The only thing I don't like about the video is the dancing, she looks awkward and stiff, she isn't much of a dancer tbh
MadMax12 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This is like Stupid Love with better mixing. SL is more compressed and crunchy so not as loud
BlahBlahBlah Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This will probably have a comfortable debut but I'm baffled at this choice for a lead single. It's just so watered down and Aaron Joseph has reused that same rolling beat on a bunch of Kim Petras songs before as well so it will instantly feel stale. I just don't get why she decided to go this direction, she's done incredibly well on TikTok this past year, streams of her old catalogue are up, and she had recaptured some attention but gave herself an achilles heel with that elephant-in-the-room collaborator all for a song that is just... not good? This honestly all feels like a big joke I don't understand. 1
Barovi Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Honestly the song doesn't go anywhere the first half is exactly the same as the second half. This would have been fine on the Barbie soundtrack but not as a lead single. 2

No thanks let her flop into oblivion so she can release an introspective acoustic rock record (with lyrics by someone else) and get acclaim!

It has 0 playlist support on streaming sites here sadly, the radios are playing it, but it won't do much if even Apple Music won't support it here.
Oktober Knight Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I expected the worst based on y'all comments but then I realized how many Liddos were posting in here. The song is a bop! I actually enjoy it 16 2

This - I always felt she was at her most interesting during her first record. She has the voice for a rock oriented record. I just cant believe the lyrics on this song lol its like early 00s
FabForAThrowback Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I'm not surprised at all by the exaggerated criticism to Katy and WW. People are always so overdramatic and literally rageous with her. This is outdated, not Katy's sound. If people put this much effort in constructive things the world would be such a perfect place, but I guess we are condamned to live always in this mess. No metter what, I'll always stand with Katy, the only one who still delivers true pop and positivity. 5 1
thismoment Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Why do I like all the snippets of the other songs she has played more than WW? Ugh, i'm struggling rn as i'm streaming it to be supportive 1
