The song isn't good either but some parts are a little better than I hoped. It's not something that I'd use but I would not mind it if it was randomly playing. I agree on everything you said. The lyrics are bad, sonically it's pretty nice, but it's absolutely not what the Never Really Over songstress should come up with. 1

It's very generic kinda like Roar which isn't for me, but it is great for the general public because it will increase her chances at having a comeback. She won't have one with something that has a lot of personnality and really stoods out from the rest. She put some efforts into her video which is nice eventhough it's a bit cringe but that's her humor and we know it. I really hate when a song is interrupted in its music video though. do you see what is the pop people actually stream? From rap to pop people want to connect to a story and a character. This kinda of thing is the opposite of what the gp wants in the actual market. Edited July 12 by vale9001

Some completely generic albums are stitched together by completely unrelated concepts (Planet Her for example, Doja created this entire universe but the songs are empty in contents ). Going for generic/no personality isn't a good move if you're a known name. Your faceless Sabrina Carpenter can get away with it, a famous Lady Gaga or a Katy Perry wouldn't.

charot Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The song is not bad but I wish she served growth musically and visually. Everything is still too childish/cartoonish. 2

zzmyth Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I'm sorry but I was told that the LEAKED song was not the same that was being released..... It sound the freaking same and it's BAD. No matter how good you paint it. This sounds 20 years old already. And this is her LEAD single???? I mean.... I absolutely loved Chained to the rhythm, and all her previous songs are bops, even if better or worse, they were catchy and inescapable. This is SOOOOOO dated. Sounds awful

BTW sabrina carpenter is not faceless. Yeah that one hit is like something generic to appeal everyone but behind that there is a singer sonwriter build in years a fandom and she has a good amount of interest about her personal life, her lyrics etc.. . To understand it even if of course with a very different scale it's like Taylor having shake it off boom but behind her all her previous singer songwriter stuff. So i wouldn't put her on a "faceless" category, actually her brand has the ingredients you need now.

KillingYourCareer Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Oh they're playing it on the radio here already rn (one of the main Italian radios)
KKKIMO92 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This would be a classic example of people giving big budget and all the resources and freedom on the world to recapture past glory and fail so miserably because their out dated sense and mind. melody could be okay but the lyrics are so cringe and so Katy Perry's full of her self. Luke actually gave a good beats and after listening to those lyrics, he may not even bother to add a few twists to the Melodie's……. 2

Is it too late to re-release Grammys in Hawaii?
Shinning Posted July 12 Posted July 12 It's sooooo uninteresting. The "it's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it" part is catchy but the rest is so meh. And I can't believe she actually went ahead with a "woman's empowerment anthem" produced by Dr Luke Like who even thinks that's a good idea? 2

Harleys in hawaii was GOODDDD
babyforlife Posted July 12 Posted July 12 sounds bland, it sounds like the less-punch version of stupid love...

PerfectCure Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This is the type of song that gets catchy after 10 listens. Cute, but lacks the earworm quality her music has been missing for a while. All the money and hype in the world, yet she could not find the means to release a better song. I guess some people are just destined to flop 1

Alaska. Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The melody on the verses sound even worse with the full song. It's like she's doing it on purpose And someone needs to tell her being oversexualized doesn't work in the 2020s. Gen Z doesn't even like to watch unecessary sex scenes on movies and shows. This review I read a few days ago about the Teenage Dream album got it right: "It felt like there was this urgent desire in the 2010s where there was this demand to insist that all famous women exist to be purely sexual creatures, in the scope of music, in the scope of film, in everything. I guess it doesn't matter anymore tho. Everything is sex and nobody is horny. Muscular ripped Marvel men glisten on movie screens and they choose to never explore romance or love. Portrayals of sex in music have shifted to cries of pain, as Adam Levine sings another song about how sex with this woman is mental torture to his being. Sex nowadays is talked about as if it's a disgusting act of animalistic instinct that humans need to overcome, and hearing a song like Peacock it isn't hard to disagree. Culture nowadays is the post-ejaculatory depression of us commodifying sex and distilling it like hard drugs. The demand of culture was sex everywhere all the time and every industry pumped it out as much as it can until the reserve went dry and we realized everyone was depressed, had body issues, and hated what these companies did for entertainment. So now they backpedal and sell us body positivity as a way to try and recoup the losses. Leaving remnants like the California Girls video behind like an old playboy in a thrift store." 1

The fans that she used to have back then are also in their 30's, why doesn't she make music for them? She is probably the artist with the most outdated vision of pop She did, with Smile. And it flopped. Same reason Gaga made Joanne for her older fans and it flopped. They can't please y'll 1
