We'll see same reason thank you next, drivers license, that shakira song and all too well made great.... gossip related this kind of generic anthem pop is so dated...the modern pop market it's post Taylor Swift...even Ariana knows that...in 2014 her music was "generic and everyone should relate" like Katy and Rihanna songs, now she makes "full projects are personal, honest, related to the private life"...Ariana can adapt to the market, both in terms of concepts and sound, Katy is stucked to 2011 in both the things. Monsieurgedeon Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I am glad the song is actually terrible as the music video. 2

I will just check out the album and hope for at least 5-6 songs I can take away Lyrics have always been Katy's issue, melodies and production made up for them, but these lyrics are quite unforgivable I think her lack of inspiration is mostly due to the fact that she's extremely happy on a personal level, an artist gives their best when they're troubled. And I wouldn't trade her happiness for good music, so it's okay this way, I just wish she'd just let songwriting camps do their thing and stop picking singles

blondeskinnyrich Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I'm not the one to actually care about the lyrics that much, but in this case I just can't help but feel embarrassed. I don't even have a will to pity stream it and it's coming from a long time Katy fan. I do agree that the chorus is kind of an earworm tho, but I don't see the gp eating this up, maybe except for the soccer moms.
katara Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The absolute cringe I had throughout listening and watching the video. I have never seen someone so out of touch. I was expecting to at least laugh hysterically but she didn't even give me that.

Arrows Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Katy taking L after L after L for three eras in a row Why would any label still invest in her?
CallumDavies Posted July 12 Posted July 12 This is good for Katy Perry. But it's still terrible and just proves that whatever magic she had at the start of her career is completely gone. Everything about the song and video reek of someone who has lived in a gated community in Los Angeles for too long. 1
Chemist Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Isn't she 40 yrs old why is she still making these stupid ass videos? The fans that she used to have back then are also in their 30's, why doesn't she make music for them? She is probably the artist with the most outdated vision of pop 1 4 2

I'm not saying she had to appeal to demand, but it's obvious she's made this album for the money, not because she wanted to express herself artistically. After Feed The Beast (which I like tbh) flopped they could have predicted that replicating it wouldn't help at all... 1

She is probably the artist with the most outdated vision of pop I've been saying it since Smile came out, what she needs to do at this point of her life is a mature version of One of the Boys. A pop-rock record inspired by early Alanis and Sheryl (her childhood faves). Might not be the most commercially viable option, but she has nothing to prove commercially, on the other hand she has a lot to prove when it comes to being taken seriously. 2

She doesn't have to act like a 40 year old mum just because she is and make music for such people. However, if you think about this, who will eat Woman's World up if not the soccer moms? But I do agree that her humor stopped being camp long time ago and is just plain cringe now. 1

Booyah Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The song is bad. Like really bad. The video is nice. Cringe but nice.
Paddy Posted July 12 Posted July 12 There will surely be more exciting songs on the album... I wonder why was this picked as a lead and who approved it. 1
MALAMENTE Posted July 12 Posted July 12 The chorus is an earworm but the rest is so repetitive. I hope she releases more songs off the album soon so people don't expect it all to sound like WW. 1

Erreur2 La Nature Posted July 12 Posted July 12 It's not as bad as I thought it would be. I really hated the snippets. The song isn't good either but some parts are a little better than I hoped. It's not something that I'd use but I would not mind it if it was randomly playing. It's very generic kinda like Roar which isn't for me, but it is great for the general public because it will increase her chances at having a comeback. She won't have one with something that has a lot of personnality and really stoods out from the rest. She put some efforts into her video which is nice eventhough it's a bit cringe but that's her humor and we know it. I really hate when a song is interrupted in its music video though. 2

Katy likely fought for it to be the lead single and she's had a team composed of yes men for over a decade. They started letting her pick singles with Unconditionally and the only good choice since then has been Never Really Over (she was forced to release Dark Horse by common sense back then, but she really didn't want to initially)
