Coldpurry Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I wish I could peek through Capitol Records board office Imagine the mess in the office right now The amount of money they will lose with this album 1
skwonderfactory Posted June 20 Posted June 20 At this point, I'm not concerned about the song's performance. I'm more worried about the public's response and reaction, plus the gap between "Woman's World" and the album. I think releasing the album on September 20th (a.k.a. the day she's headlining Rock In Rio) would be perfect and allow for maximum impact. She has plenty of KatyCats in Brazil and lots of fans internationally will be hype for the stream, to see her performing again, etc. Plus, she can perform 2-3 brand new songs for the first time ever. I also think on September 10th (the day of the MTV VMAs), Katy should perform "Woman's World" and tease a yet-to-be released song with the instrumental only during a 30-40 second dance break. And lastly, the fact that it's only 10 weeks between the release of "Woman's World" and 143 will allow for her to release the second single with a music video on September 20th too. This, in my opinion, allows her to get the maximum amount of exposure and highest chances of success, big first week numbers, etc..

I see you don't expect the song to chart more than 10 weeks. It's fine, I think your foots are on the planet lmao. 1
peacok Posted June 20 Posted June 20 We should be blaming the fans that attended the listening party for not telling Katy that this song was a bad choice as a lead single 4 1 7
AvadaKedavra Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (edited) Wait. If I'm not mistaken, when people work with Dr. Luke or Max Martin, they require that one of their songs be released as a single? At least, that's what I vaguely remember Edited June 20 by AvadaKedavra

There are two Katy songs where Max only has writing credits and Dr. Luke has both writing and producing IKAG, Hot N Cold. There are no songs where it is the other way round.

aotwbys Posted June 20 Posted June 20 I don't think the people attending the listening party were being untruthful. It's more likely that they simply weren't aware there was a very high probability that Dr. Luke had a hand in producing the song. I don't put much stock in people's online reactions to the song based on a 10-second snippet.
KillingYourCareer Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Am I delulu for forcing myself to believe that the rumors about the snippet being fake are true?

However, I'm not sure how many people tune in to music awards shows anymore, like the VMAs. If WW flops, the question becomes whether she should even bother releasing another single at all before releasing the album. I'm concerned that any negative feedback surrounding Woman's World may spill over onto subsequent singles, even if they're stronger tracks. It might be wiser to wait and see what listeners favor on the album itself, rather than trying to salvage a potentially damaged lead single.
TayDuaStan Posted June 20 Posted June 20 (edited) It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it / Uh huh / Uh huh / You better celebrate / Cuz baby we ain't going away / It's a woman's world and you're lucky to be living in it / Uh huh / Uh huh What was she thinking with this chorus? That hook is so lazy. This is coming to flop big time Edited June 20 by TayDuaStan 3 4
Thor Posted June 20 Posted June 20 This has to be one of the rarest cases of a song getting universally panned even before an official release. She is getting slaughtered on TikTok for not only just how bad it is but also the lyrical content, her abysmal delivery and for (allegedly) working with that rapist. She is cooked. 4
jjmed59 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 controversy aside. the tik tok snippet is being dragged all over tik tok for simply… sucking that dated overdone chugging bass line is so tired. the lyrics are so painfully generic. it just sounds BLEH
aotwbys Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Seems like she's facing quite the backlash. She needs to stop catering to tiktok's whims; it's time to lie low for a while and let things cool off over the summer. She can go ahead and release Woman's World but if it doesn't land, there's no need to panic and release other songs hastily. That would just further stir up the hornet's nest.

If so, I think her team is (or should be) aiming for September 6 for the album release, right before he Vanguard performance & acceptance on the 10th.

aotwbys Posted June 20 Posted June 20 She needs to understand that if Woman's World fails and the ridicule continues, people will be ready to pounce on any subsequent single she releases. To prevent further mockery, the best course of action is to wait until September to move forward. Don't give them any more ammunition against her by rushing to release more songs that could be torn apart.
Popular Post Alex21kw Posted June 20 Popular Post Posted June 20 I was thinking her team leaked a false AI snippet + false info to RS about Puke being on the album, in order to ignite backlash a month before the release. Only to then dismantle both those theories a week before the single release, making everyone eat their words and in the process creating a viral online debate about how women are unduly criticised in the music industry. And then I woke up 1 4 34
