It had 14 variants debut week plus sign variants so by Atrl logic it obviously will debut high

It did more than Dua in streams though. Without TTH unlike Radical Optimism! :jonnycat:

I know it's Dua's flop era but she was coming off of FN and charli had no hit to speak of. Her last album did like 30k :jonny5:

Radical Optimism was too experimental

1. Consistent quality music that has made her lose very little fans overtime and only gain more that are passionate about her/faithful to her brand. It's been a slow burn but a strong one. Dua has more sheer numbers and reach, but i don't think her fans are as ride or die as Charli fans ride for her.

2. People like to joke that the LGBT fanbases are fickle, but I completely disagree and think people have it totally wrong. Building an LGBT-centric fanbase is one of the most dedicated long-term fanbases you can build yourself overtime. Whether you're at a general career low or career high, if you're a pop girlie they love, they WILL keep listening to you. It will ebb and flow in strength of support, but Charli has that fanbase for life  Dua does too, so I believe Dua can always depend on them to keep her afloat.

3. She delivered exactly what people wanted from her, experimental but carefully curated hyper-pop. Dua did not what people anticipated from Radical Optimism and tbh I don't think it got as many repeat listens first week. I was underwhelmed personally.

I feel like they have a similar sized fan base, but Charli built hers without commercial success or hits, which is now really benefiting her and makes her numbers impressive whereas Dua always had the hits and commercial success, so without them, she naturally declined.

dua completely wasted whatever goodwill she had in the US post dance the night by releasing Houdini. It's too Euro-pop for the US.

Same numbers but it's a radical optimism for Charli and a radical floptimism for Dua.

I am actually shocked they are even close because they not seem like they are on the same level popularity vise...like at all

I blame those endless vacations… and also Danny L Harle & Kevin Parker (truly awful producers, i hope they get blacklisted from working with MPG again):suburban:

Is this necessary? And before you reply, consider what you wanna say next & ask yourself is this rly pertinent to the topic at hand?

OT: Dua hasn't accrued a devoted fanbase the same way Charli has. She's more of a household name but that doesn't translate to albums the way it does to singles. Charli took a long time to get here but word of mouth has finally rly gotten around

swifties hating Charli for real?? :deadbanana2: this is a disease at this point!

tbh it's so much more impressive for Charli considering no main stream success and 10+ years into her career. both gorgeous foreign girlies tho!

Those are such good numbers for Charli :clap3:

I was honestly surprised Dua did that much in the US since she seemingly doesn't have much of a US base

Doja didn't have physicals, both RO and Brat did half their totals from physicals

Not very surprising tbh. Charli has been around for over a decade now and she's been cultivating a cult following for years, especially after Vroom Vroom. Add to that the fact that Brat completely exploded this month and took over the internet while Radical Optimism didn't resonate with audiences that much and these numbers totally make sense to me.
