Playing Madison Square Garden in New York City is a dream for many touring artists and it's a venue that basically every major artist has played at some point in their career. It's arguably not only the most iconic arena, but most iconic concert venue in general. :clap3:

And then on a stadium concert level, an argument could be made for London's Wembley Stadium being the most iconic one. Even if it is not played as often as arenas due to its obvious enormous size, it has nevertheless hosted many A++ legends of the music industry in its more than 100-year history and has a name that is known to any pop culture aficionado.  :clap3:

So are MSG & Wembley Stadium the most iconic arena & stadium venues for concerts?

If not, which venues would you say are?

Yes. I feel like "making it" to either of those is a major achievement in an artist's career.

Selling out MSG means you're a certified "popular" artist, while booking a night at Wembley is reserved to the A+ list musicians (MJ, Madonna, Elton, George Michael, Beyoncé, etc.).

The big question is what rounds out the trinity. Stade de France? Maracanã? The Tokyo Dome?

what are criteria though? prestige, capacity, availability? selling out MCG in Melbourne seems iconic, it can host up 100k people for shows

selling out tokyo dome for western/anglosphere artists seems also impressive

I'll add Tokyo Dome and probably Stade de France, both are iconic and feels like a big achievement.

I feel like msg is more about prestige. Being able to book it during your first years of your career (or if you're new ish to touring) is a huge accomplishment, while Wembley is one of the first stadiums big artists go for and especially for US artists it's such a huge achievement to be able to book it as it proves your global power. It's not about the capacity or availability..
