goverm3nth0ker Posted June 10 Posted June 10 We know that Whitney, Cindy, Celine, Madonna (coming soon) have their biopic and they are artists who debuted in the 80s. I'm sure I'm missing some singers but I don't know if there is something based on their life. But who will be the current artist that could have her first biopic? (I count debuts in late 90s, 00s, 10s). I think Britney or Gaga could easily have a bopic in the future, maybe Shakira too. Ik Amy Winehouse recently had a biopic so can you say she was the first of the 00s to have a biopic?
Yelero Posted June 10 Posted June 10 (edited) Britney already have a biopic Edited June 10 by Yelero 1 1
Comedor Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Obviously Britney. Her life is pure drama, much like Whitney's.
HausOfPunk Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Gaga's biopic should focus on her search for evidence in the wake of the January 6th insurrection. 2 11
ThomasTea Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Definitely Britney. I think Shania would make for an excellent biopic, her life has been nothing short of chaos.
GraceRandolph Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I could see a TV show based on Rivington Was Ours. You could maybe include Lana a bit or something. Britney has a Lifetime movie, but I think she'd be against a biopic. 1
toxicgenie Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Britney has the most dramatic and interesting life. I can see several movies and TV series capturing different parts of her life,
fridayteenage Posted June 10 Posted June 10 britney would be theoretically straightforward if it's an adaptation of the memoir
Soda Pop Queen Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Are we counting unofficial and made-for-TV biopics? Because Britney has one already with Lifetime. Madonna even had a TV one, controversial as it may be to some lol, way back in 1994 called 'Innocence Lost.' We could also count 'Madonna and the Breakfast Club' (the one about her band/early years). There are several 90s women in music that have made-for-TV biopics: Toni Braxton, Aaliyah, TLC, etc. 2 acts that I'm kinda surprised no one's been able to do even a TV film on yet are Mariah Carey and Destiny's Child/Beyoncé, but then again there's probably all kinds of red tape preventing them: gag orders and NDAs placed on them by former managers and whatnot. The vast majority of popular female artists don't have any biopics that make it to theaters, curiously.
JoeAg Posted June 10 Posted June 10 I thincc Gaga I think Britney's will be an up-in-the-air thing for around a decade like Medoner's has been until she finally says "hmmm... okay I guess" but then she'd be the creative director and make sure it's as good and accurate as possible because she's smart and knows how people can skew things
cat1867 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Britney is most likely. She has a narrative arc suitable for biopics and with her memo , a desire to correct her narrative through media. Beyonce and Taylor would not allow their music to be used in a biopic for decades if ever and their careers really don't have the typical drama that biopics thrive off of.

Bey and Tay both have lots of drama that can be talked about. The drama during destinys child, early career drama, her thoughts on the Grammy situation with ST and lemonade vs drama with Kanye and Kim, drama and reconciliation with Katy, drama regarding Justin and Selena, early drama with Carrie Underwood, the whole scooter situation. Both their careers are filled with drama that can be explored and talked about.
Donquizote Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Britney has the most dramas during her career. Plus she already published a memoir that can be easily adapted to movie.
punisher Posted June 10 Posted June 10 out of the 2010's girls it might be cardi tbh she keeps getting offered deals and she said she's thinking of taking one 1

I Music biopics have a set structure- struggling to become famous, becoming famous but the costs of fame become to much leading to breakdown and career low (usually with drug abuse) , and then a big triumphal return after a lesson is learned. The downfall and then return is the most important part. There isn't a good downfall since Beyonce and Taylor avoided anything that actually had severe career consequences and neither of them seem to have drug or alcohol problems. Like Taylor's lowest point was famous gate and even then she was still the most successful artist of the year. And the main lesson she learned was that she needed to trust people less. Beyonce not getting AOTY is not an interesting narrative arc. Jay Z cheating on her and that being reveleaded could have worked if she had actually left them. But her staying with him makes it narratively unsastifiying. Scooter drama wouldn't work for a biopic since the situation sucks but Taylor had no struggle with resolving the issue. Like it would go " sleezy exec stole her work, she decided to record with massive fan and public support, her rerecords were instantly an extremely successful project that outstreamed the ogs". like things went way too easily for taylor. it's not an interesting story to tell. Virgos Groove Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Big-budget biopics only come out for artists who have entered legacy act status, so Britney seems like the only possible choice. She has the narrative and the fame necessary to carry a movie. Beyoncé and Taylor are still too current and way too private about their lives.
