SweetOreosOfHeaven Posted June 8 Posted June 8 If it wasn't for Billie, would Finneas have a career? His solo work is very mid.

Exactly. He was even on glee and unknown until bad guy. Plus Billie is the one singing the songs. atrl learning what "symbiotic" means challenge: FAILED Edited June 8 by dirrtydiana
UnusualBoy Posted June 8 Posted June 8 They work as a duo, so they basically need each other, Finneas is an excellent producer and writer and Billie has proven with this album that she is a good writer and decent singer. 1

Finneas can't do the same. He may find success with other artists or he may not. At the end of the day Finneas is not a brand. He needs her more than she needs him. Edited June 8 by NEX 3
Cheers Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Nope but he wouldn't have a career w/o her either. He's obviously the mind behind her music but he's not marketable as her. However, Billie can find new producers/writers.. Finneas will remain behind the scenes. Bitterness and resentment will likely start to build-up in Finneas. I foresee a fallout in the future like all the other Hollywood fams.
NoOneDiesFromLove Posted June 8 Posted June 8 No and I don't mean to be shady but Billie's first hit "Ocean Eyes" wasn't even meant for her originally. It was for Finneas's band or something like that. She would for sure have been a sort of underground artist. And I don't agree with the theory Finneas sans Billie wouldn't have achieved similar levels of fame he has now. Maybe he wouldn't have as much critical acclaim.
Leptine Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Don't know but I've always thought they should be consider a duo.
TouchinFree Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Billie is talented and I love her. But I do believe FINNEAS had played a major role in who she is today including her image. If it wasn't for Finneas I think she'd either be a full blown regular popstar aka Max Martined and Luked. And be successful or pull a Sky ferrera/ Madison beer.

There are a lot of producer/artist duos where the singer went to work with other folks and flopped. Brandy/Darkchild Amerie/Rich Harrison etc. I mean they're R&B but you get the point So her brand CAN live on without Finneas, but can it live on successfully is another story. A part of this is also the media making a huge deal out of departing from her long term collaborator. Media really stop the bag b/c they'll critique every little thing. Personally I think she'd do well, but you never know…
Patient Zero Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I see this project more as a duo. When Billie wins an award, her brother is always with her for instance. It's so impressive that basically all of their songs are only produced by them.

badidearight Posted June 8 Posted June 8 it's a team effort and there's nothing wrong with that it's not like they aren't upfront about it 1
