Bitter Aging Twink Posted June 8 Posted June 8 It's hard for me to imagine what Billie Eilish's career trajectory would have looked like without the enormous influence her brother and main collaborator, Finneas, has had over her music. Every single one of Billie's songs has been co-written and produced by him and he has undeniably played an instrumental role in making her the artist she is today. Several of her earliest breakout hits, including "Ocean Eyes" and "When The Party's Over" were entirely written and produced by Finneas, and all Billie had to do was show up to record her vocals over those already-finished tracks that her brother had worked so hard on. With that in mind, do you think Billie would have the same career trajectory and level of success she enjoys today if she hadn't had access to the genius songwriting and production of her brother, Finneas? For example, if she had launched her career off by working with another common popgirl producer like, say, Jack Antonoff, would she still be as successful as she is today? Discuss, and keep it Kyoto
Popular Post makeawish Posted June 8 Popular Post Posted June 8 there is ofc a different way around to look at this: what would previously hitless producer finneas o'connell be without his superstar vocalist and co-writer sister to hitch his wagon to? sometimes people make a good team. 1 13 6
ShadeIena Posted June 8 Posted June 8 They are a duo. She's the marketing face of them. They always work together but they are also allowed to work with different people without having to be "duo" and "solo" separated 2
Donquizote Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Maybe. She is still a good songwriter and a good singer. Not everyone has that
Illuminati Posted June 8 Posted June 8 No but honestly Finneas would have never blown up without Billie either 2

modeblock Posted June 8 Posted June 8 No, we have seen what Finneas does with his solo work, and it's a bland boring mess. He's a superb producer though. Billie is incredibly talented as a songwriter, she also has a beautiful, emotive vocal tone, and is physically gorgeous. I think they both would have had successful careers independent of each other, but their work together is what took them to the stratosphere. 5

You already made up your mind, I see. 1
Verandi Posted June 8 Posted June 8 (edited) In another note I think Finneas is the brains and Billie is the instrument. I seriously don't believe this girl would have the fleshed out vision of her sound and branding if it wasn't for her brother. theres a lot of pretty singers out there, but Finneas made a unique sound with his production which is what Billie is known for. Say what you want but Finneas has an ear for sound and he most likely instructed Billie to experiment with her voice to get unique sound (whispers) So no I don't think Billie would be where she is now without Finneas. And viceversa so don't @ me Edited June 8 by Verandi
FolkLover1989 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Billie Eilish as a brand is duo The face is solo artist but they both need each other and mostly forever will ig
Pikachoo Posted June 8 Posted June 8 no, she would still be in school learning algebra. shes not unbelievably talented, but shes unbelievably creative and has a unique beauty. but she she needs someone to do the heavy lifting for her.

Rhyme Posted June 8 Posted June 8 1 minute ago, Josh said: Well... he's her main writer... So? A good pop producer needs a good muse as much as the popstar need them. You think Finneas could've wrote a song like What Was I Made For? without Billie's perspective, voice, and aesthetic? 3
Fitzswiftie Posted June 8 Posted June 8 They need each other but Billie has produced better work outside of them than he say (even if it is just the one song with Labrinth).
wish Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Billie has co-written every song of hers since 2019. Keep clinging onto songs that she recorded at 13-16 years old in a sad attempt to discredit her talent Finneas is certainly talented, but it's very clear that Billie is the main creative & narrative force behind her music, while Finneas has more of the technical production skill. 1
Blue Monday Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Billie is a talent in her own right; even if the brother/sister duo adds a bit to her persona and the hype around them, she has the chops to stand on her own and that has certain people MAD 2
jonapova Posted June 8 Posted June 8 May I remind you it is Saturday. No one cares. They've served quality again and again. Go and play out ffs.
StonedSoulPicnic Posted June 8 Posted June 8 I agree with the Carpenters comparison. The O'Connell siblings bring out the best in each other. 2
Trainwreck Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Neither of them would make it without the other, Billie Eilish is a group project 1
