Talk to teens and tweens, they don't care about boybands, actors, etc. They follow influencers... that's where the $$$$ is nowadays. fr i was just about to say this, nobody finds pop cool anymore tbh especially if it comes from a cringe boy band
AvadaKedavra Posted June 5 Posted June 5 (edited) If i were a label head-ceo-a&r i would look for some sort of American Justin Bieber mixed with Avril Lavigne-Billie Eilish with a very cool Stage Name for my roster. He needs to be good lookin to appeal to the Gen Alpha-Betta Horny Teen Girls and have a 4-5 octaves voice and Charisma I would market him as an Urban R&B, Bedroom Pop(Olivia teas) and Pop Punk Star / As a Songwriter too But i would give him a less "sanitized" "clean" image than biebs, so straights dont bully him. He would also get great media training He would sing about American Issues, Social Media,Sex-Weed/Drugs-Depression-Rebellion to Authority-Technology-Peer Pressure, Global Warming, Videogames and all the things the teens go through in high school-middle school today Once he's a global phenomenon i would buy a beautiful mansion in california then he gets angry about all the control we have in the label over his career and we get cancelled Edited June 5 by AvadaKedavra 1

Exodus Posted June 5 Posted June 5 I'm here for it. People seem to forget his influence over 1D, 5H, CNCO and PRETTYMUCH. Were they all hyper successful? Maybe not. But I enjoyed all the content. The narrative that this kind of pop is out is ridiculous especially with the "trendy" Y2K resurgence right now. 2
aotwbys Posted June 5 Posted June 5 It's been a decade+ since Bieber/1D. How hard is it to find moderately attractive guys who can actually sing in a world of billions of people.
nicholas Posted June 5 Posted June 5 idk if boy bands work anymore or at least to the level of 1D.. everyones to accessible nowadays
IBeMe Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Kpop is here for that. They just know how to make not so cheesy boy groups and if they do the kpop model for american artists it just wont work. for some reason the english language and westernized vibes dont work with the whole k pop aesthetic even though k pop clearly is inspired by the west...it's just something about it is unique and idk what it is and the west hasnt been able to emulate that vibe. 1
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted June 5 Posted June 5 Why don't these big wigs EVER think to try to form a mixed gender and genre group? I feel like this would not only be fresh but would make a group easily stick out? You could even have one rap, one sing, one play an instrument or two, one do both, etc. Think BEP but younger. I just don't get it. Be CREATIVE, stop trying to fit formulas. 2

I think the era of relatability will start to die down any year now. I see more videos online of people asking to bring back fun pop music back again. The 2000s nostalgia is making people miss pop stars as performers again. I mean look at Ed Sheeran he was massively relatable and he flopping to oblivion. You see younger fans complaining about too much sad girl music.

Maybe an evolved formula would work now? 2

Except it's not lol. It doesn't work in America because it's extremely cookie cutter and lacking in overall talent. America values individualism. They like to have options to pick their fave (IE people with different looks and talents). They prefer vocal talent. Kpop is full of the same thing over and over again with relatively weak vocals. It works in collectivist cultures in Asia but not in the West. 1

The way to profit from girls aged 10-15 is to keep them delulu that they'll eventually date one of the members Having a mixed group won't reach the same market as a pure boy band
