toxicgenie Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I believe Miley. She's real and slipped in revealing this, but is anyone shocked? Everyone that follows music and artists knows the patterns with Beys writing credits. 1

Archetype Posted June 3 Posted June 3 (edited) This happens with every Bey album, you'd think she'd learn to stop doing this by now Super disappointing because it's clearly the best song off the album, and now we know she had little to do with it. Edited June 3 by Archetype 3

Can't they at least acknowledge her part in writing the song ? What part? Some ad libs and harmonies? A word her or there? The original demo is almost identical to the finished song. If Miley wrote the majority of the song herself she has a right to let everyone know 3
OrgVisual Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The way none of y'll actually read the OP So when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship => Beyonce reached out for collabs, and Miley offered this song And there's absolutely no shade detected in the whole interview

toxicgenie Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Something subtle I also noticed is that Bey plagiarized the "Been Country" idea that Miley explained to Bey first.

For example in my latest single I have 95% of the split, but my name is second on Spotify because it's in alphabetical order. iconic promo, I am listening 3
KingBeyonce. Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I'm screaming because what's so shady or shocking about this? Almost all of the artists we discuss on this site have songs that started as demos or collabs that started as solo songs presented to them. It's not like Beyonce went on IG and said "I wrote II Most Wanted 100% by myself in my room and all the words came from me" or something. If that was the case, she'd be the only credited songwriter which she isn't and basically never is (just like 90% of singers), right? So again what's such a kii? 2 1
Where are you now? Posted June 3 Posted June 3 This is not a good look at all for Bey. Has this woman legit ever written a song herself (lyrics / instrumentation)? If you're not talented enough to write your own songs it's fine... plenty of artists don't. But at least OWN up to it, don't just stamp your name on every single song under the writing credits!
seancarter Posted June 3 Posted June 3 this is not surprising ... the writing literally sounds like miley's writing style.. it's giving very much younger now era. 1
B-Luke Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Eh not a fan of the song, checks out that Miley wrote it. I enjoy Bey penned tracks way more.

How different was it from the final version? Being listed first doesn't mean you contributed the most to the song or get the largest publishing split. The split for II Most Wanted is as follows: Miley Cyrus - 28.4 Beyoncé - 15 Michael Pollack - 28.3 Ryan Tedder - 28.3 1

toxicgenie Posted June 3 Posted June 3 If Beyonce takes credit cuts from an A-lister like Miley it's much worse for the B-listers and little people she works with that's the main takeaway. 1
visions Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I think people have their mind warped by stan world cos she's just giving background on a song she did lol and is probably proud of. It's not intended shade to Beyoncé 1

She's credited as the sole lyricist of "Church Girl" Dre, one half of the production duo Cool & Dre, told Billboard. "She put her mind to the music and did her thing. If she had a melody idea, she came up with the words. If we had the words, she came up with the melody. She's a beast." Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote "Halo," told Gig Wise of his experience working alongside Beyoncé: "She does stuff on any given song that, when you go from the demo to the final version, takes it to another level that you never would have thought of as the writer. For instance, on 'Halo,' that bridge on her version is completely different to my original one. Basically, she came in, ditched that, edited it, did her vocal thing on it, and now it's become one of my favorite parts of the song. The whole melody, she wrote it spontaneously in the studio. So her credit on that song stems from that." Educate yourself 3 1
