NordicGuy Posted June 2 Posted June 2 I loved Luca but I kinda see their point. Looking at some of my favorite movies of theirs like WALL-E, Ratatouille and The Incredibles they of course were products of their directors but at no point did they feel like therapy sessions for the director. They were stories that those creators loved and found exciting and inspiring. They weren't retellings of exact things they had gone through, that was never the point. They were good stories first and foremost, you didn't have to know the director's life story to get the full experience. So I get why they want to move away from personal stories but abandoning all new stories for the sake of sequels isn't the way forward at all. I find it confusing how they seem to think that there are only two types of movies: ones that are too personal for the director and ones that only exist to satisfy the public but not the creators. Weird. 3
Da Vinci Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Basically they said mass appeal = straights only again from now on!
dooart Posted June 2 Posted June 2 This is so dumb cuz' Lightyear was terrible imo, while Luca and Turning Red were their best releases in years... Those 2 movies only "flopped" because of the pandemic. They willingly released it on D+ and are trying to backtrack years later? Tf? It's obvious that movies not released in theaters are not going to have big box office numbers, what's not clicking? I also didn't liked Elemental so I won't talk about that but I thought it was at least a small hit from them?
Talento Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Well... this person is an executive And it is a fact these films weren't as successful as their older releases.
