Caitlyn Jenner: "I am a male - not a woman. Chromosomes don't lie."

Using “it” to refer to Caitlyn Jenner, or any trans person, will be met with a ZTP violation. Please keep this in mind before posting. Thank you.

Threads about trans never end up well :rip:

Easily one of the worst members of the transgender community right now. The stuff Caitlyn says just does nothing but hurt the community Caitlyn is a part of.

I don't know what pronouns Caitlyn prefers at this point btw. This is just so confusing on top of how hurtful it is.

How long is she gonna keep up this "pick me" bullshit before she realizes republicans will never claim her. They view her and all people like her like scum on their shoe.

I'm just so confused by Caitlyn.   Is it cosplay?  Is it satire?  IDGI

We just don't refer to Caitlyn at all. Evil does not exist to us, we shouldn't make any threads about them either :bam:

What is this obsession with trying to put people in boxes and telling trans people how to feel about themselves? Anyway, man/woman categories shouldn't matter as much, and there should be gender neutral facilities

Amazing to see how quickly so-called progressive members of the LGBTQ community  will shower a trans woman with vile insults based on her trans ness just cause she has conservative political opinions.

How can this person be more and more despicable each time?

Saying things like this will only continue to make a mockery of trans people and the community. I can't believe how disappointing this person turned out to be in general. Who would've thought it 10 years ago...

SHE is so damn annoying and such a disservice to the trans community.

Chromosomes are not the only factor determining biological sex, not even the most common factor. Doctors almost never assign sex at birth based on chromosomes because they don't test for that. So while Caitlyn still might have XY sex chromosomes, that doesn't mean she's necessarily still a male. That said, I can respect how she identifies and don't really give a f, so if she wants to say she's male then whatever. But her view of biological sex is extremely reductive and to be honest yes it does play into a lot of transphobic tropes.

Can you please elaborate on this or cite a source? It's just because people (especially transphobes) always conflate sex and gender by boiling down to chromosomes when arguing "you'll never be a real woman/man because you have XY/XX chromosomes!"

I always thought the primary factor to determining biological sex is based on chromosomes.

Literall everyone. She was obtuse and annoying as Bruce as well. Lol

Most of the time it's so confusing for me to try and understand what the hell is going on in this person's head. Perhaps a bit less so this time around, but it's actually kinda fascinating how everything about Caitlyn Jenner played out completely opposite of how most thought it would.

I always thought the primary factor to determining biological sex is based on chromosomes.

Source is literally any article about sexual dimorphism in humans. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_differences_in_human_physiology

And yes, an average person will take most (not always all) of the characteristics of their assigned sex during their development, but that does not mean that sex is not changeable - or at least to a degree. The sex you are assigned at birth is almost always just based on how your genitals look to people, not your chromosomes. There's intersex people (please click on the link, it's an interesting Ted Talk about this issue) who were assigned female at birth because they have a ******, but in reality they have no uterus and have XY chromosomes. There is also other chromosomal variations such as XXX, XXY, XXXX - none which correspond with the traditional idea of sex. And while you can't change your chromosomes, you can absolutely change many other aspect of your sex - breast reduction/augmentation, hormone replacement therapy (which literally changes your entire body from fat distribution to even some of your brain functions), bottom surgery, etc.

Lastly, in our day to day lives we assume someone's sex based on their appearance, not their chromosomes. When was the last time you asked for someone's chromosomes and decided their sex based on that information? It literally never happens. I actually think conflating sex and gender in non-medical context is right because as far as we're concerned they are both made up categories and there's millions of individuals that do not strictly fit into either of the two boxes we traditionally talk about. A transgender woman who had a top surgery, a feminization surgery, a bottom surgery, and underwent hormone replacement therapy is, biologically speaking, MUCH closer to being an average cisgender woman that she is to being an average cisgender man. And even amongst cisgender men and women there is a great variation when it comes to sex characteristics (some women look more masculine than some men, for example).

All that said, ultimately we should just respect how someone identifies so I'm not in the business of policing how Caitlyn thinks of herself. I was just pointing out that her saying this plays into the transphobic idea that your sex is unchangeable and that transitioning has no impact on that, which is just false. But also - that does not mean that transgender people who don't want to or haven't yet transitioned are not valid.

I think many of us are just flabbergasted that she's even a Republican; why join a political party comprised of folks who hate your guts?

She's an overprivileged attention ***** shilling for a group of people who want the LGBT community dead.

If she can't handle the heat, she's welcome to get out of the kitchen. I don't know why anybody would feel the next to extend any grace to her.
