This is true, Taylor Swift is literally a billionaire and "Acts" like the musical equivalent as well. No amount of massive success is ever enough for her and her label. The record being the number of weeks 21 spent atop the BB200 (that no woman has been able to reach since its release). These variant tactics are clearly used to keep the album at #1.

If Beyoncé was releasing different versions of her albums with just VOICE MEMOS I'd be embarrassed as ALLL HELLL and fed tf up. Did you see how pissed we got at her for the Vinyl situation for a MISPELLING? Now imagine her PURPOSELY releasing 20 Versions of the same album with a different voice memo attached to it. There's nothing entertaining nor smart about this (money-wise on her side yeah)

"Only difference is just a color", the booklets, the inner sleeves, cover, back cover are all different between the 4 main variants (target excluded), and each having it's own bonus track. If anything she's the only one that put an effort on making each variant as different to the others as possible
