Alongoria13 Posted June 1 Posted June 1 At the moment, I'm thinking of spending either Christmas, NYE or both in a country in Europe but I'm still not quite sure where to go. I'm not the kind of person who hops from country to country after a day or two so I'm looking for a 7-10 day affair somewhere. My current options are Portugal (Madame X), Spain (fluent in Spanish), Poland (architecture and culture in general), Czechia (bestie lives there, in love with Prague), Alsace region in France (semi fluent in French, fairy tale like), any recommendations?
Devin Posted June 1 Posted June 1 i havent been but i heard prague is really beautiful in the winter. its on my europe bucket list. 1
Daglazzo Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I recommend Poland as you said we have interesting architecture and culture in general (food is out of this world). If you want I can help with choosing the exact city.
Archetype Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) Go to Zurich or Courchevel, duh Edited June 1 by Archetype

byzantium Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I'd go to Portugal or Czechia. They are the cheapest, beautiful, and maybe the most fun.
ariananext Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Do Alsace, I went during fall and it was beautiful, it's going to be even better during Christmas time. You can do Colmar, Riquewihr, Strasbourg, Freiburg, Basel etc. in one week. 2
TayDuaStan Posted June 1 Posted June 1 (edited) Switzerland or Austria. I'd personally recommend Zermatt or Grindelwald in Switzerland or Hallstatt or the Tyrol region in Austria. Those are some places that I really think are a must see, especially in the winter. The views are breathtaking, something out of a fairytale Edited June 1 by TayDuaStan
OrgVisual Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Hungary / Germany / Austria because of the Christmas markets mainly
Last Boy on Earth Posted June 4 Posted June 4 You Americans need to leave Portugal and Spain alone ffs they're literally becoming American colonies
Genius1111 Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Years before COVID started, I spent Christmas Day itself in the Meteora rock formations in Greece. There were tours available and I managed to snag the last hostel spot on Christmas Eve at a great non-inflated price. I remembered that I was still able to take public transport on Christmas Eve to get there, and I could also take a night bus from Kalambaka to southern Albania on Christmas night, and all prices were not inflated. I have not returned since then so I cannot comment on the tourism situation there ever since the pandemic started.
Maroonx Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Prague/Vienna/Germany for xmas markets, after Xmas season though I'd recommend Spain NYE parties x
rzal Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Idk but Poland in December is a no. Cold, gray and rainy. Also idk what you'd do on Christmas, everything is closed for 3 days
orange Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Ooh do Poland and Czechia for the Christmas markets! I'm sure Alsace region would also have the best of German influence with the Christmas markets and you get the little town (Colmar) Beauty and the Beaste is based off of in Alsace region! My favorite winter was when I went Christmas market hopping haha Quote Portugal(Madame X), Spain (fluent in Spanish), Poland(architecture and culture in general), Czechia (bestie lives there, in love with Prague), Alsace region in France (semi fluent in French, fairy tale like), any recommendations?
