SlowGinFizzzz Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Amazing pop album that (surprisingly?) stood the test of time, plus it houses her best non-single, Sometimes. 2
Peak Now Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Good album, a significant step forward from her previous two albums
EnigmaticAndroid Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 Very good pop album that still sounds good. If there's one criticism I have, it's that it's stylistically a bit all over the place, but that's understandable given the situation between her artistic wants and how her label/team were pushing her. 1
Ger Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 While not her strongest effort, a very solid pop record. It has some career highlights like "Sometimes" and "Touch It".
Slate Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 She's a cute girl, cute next to gorgeous (every album she released since)
Filthy Pop Posted May 30, 2024 Posted May 30, 2024 This and ME will forever be her worst albums. R&Biana forever
Moonlight Nation Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 For me, it's to Ariana Grande what "Starboy" is to The Weeknd. A collection of top-tier, immaculately produced tunes but lacking the cohesion and strong overarching themes + narratives that define their best work. Both released in 2016 and whose title and aesthetic allude to a badass alter ego of sorts, which is reflected on many of the tracks lyrically. Unfocused and with a few weaker spots, but still highly enjoyable listening experiences featuring iconic singles and several hidden gems. That being said, I adore "Dangerous Woman" and would actually consider it my third favourite Ariana album (keeping the tracklists unedited, at least). Does nostalgia play a role? Absolutely, but the project has stood the test of time in my opinion and I'd love to see it getting a resurgence like "Starboy" did. The combination of Swedish pop perfection with the gorgeous R&B moments makes this such a cool and fun project allowing Ariana to showcase her voice at its fullest. "Into You" 's quality speaks for itself, and I'm loving the shout-outs to "Be Alright", "Touch It", "Let Me Love You", and "Sometimes". Surprised "Greedy" didn't get any mentions yet, since it was one of the biggest missed single opportunities from the era. "Leave Me Lovely" is phenomenal, the title track was such an admirably bold choice for a lead, and "Moonlight" is a delightful callback to "Yours Truly". Then we have bonus track "Jason's Song (Gave It Away)", which I find to be an absolute career highlight and among my top 5 favourite songs off her discography. 3 4

magazine Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 You know when you see God? This feels like you're listening to it. Yeah
Bencharmer Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 It was a banger on arrival but with time i started noticed its "flaws". Il feels like it goes nowhere, deals with random stuff, Ariana doesn't sound "convinced" on most of the songs on it. However, i must admit i skip on songs on it
theoghon Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 (edited) Trust me, Into You was a hell of a TRIP back in 2016, but I CANNOT stand it now, Greedy as well. ...I use Bad Decisions and Sometimes (God was in the studio 4 this one) most nowadays Edited May 31, 2024 by theoghon
Just a Gay on ATRL Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Eternal Sunshine thank u, next Dangerous Woman Positions Sweetener My Everything Yours Truly
whiteferrari Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 it aged okay for me, but it does have several career highlights into you let me love you moonlight 1
Tm4074 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 A solid pop album with some great cult classic pop songs on it. In retrospect it's imperative to how Ariana's career evolved. DW served its purpose as a bridge album between My Everything and Sweetener. However Ariana's signature sound was established from Sweetener to Eternal Sunshine. 1
goverm3nth0ker Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 it was quit an event and 12yo me was GAGGED. but aged ok
