as in, yes you are mostly right because governments shouldnt allow this to happen. But artists and individuals also participate in these destructive methods of exploitation, and they are at fault too.

 

Acts like Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor, etc, are massive contributors to local market exploitative speculation and rampant housing crisis. Whilst they are mere participators in the game, they are ALSO to blame for the destructino of local cultures and housing markets, for they are both used to create those conditions whilst happily benefiting from them.

 

I'm so so bored of people saying the blame is solely on local governments. Yes, mostly. but also if you WHILLINGLY participate in an exploitative and money-making project like this, well, that is on you as well.

There are people with work and other personal commitments where they live in shelters

American stans traveling thousands of miles and spending thousands of dollars just to stay at the Ibis which was a shelter yesterday

Knowing Edinburgh this was probably the perfect storm for them to rehouse a sizeable amount of their homeless population and blame it on someone/something else. Quiet relocations to deprived pockets of Glasgow have been happening a lot recently.

 

Regardless of them saying it's temporary, they'll see the financial gain of having shelters be sold at hotel prices and not let them back. Wouldn't be the first time a similar situation has happened.

The way you can tell who has read the article and who hasn't.  Homeless people are being relocated temporarily to another shelter or hotel so that the city can accomodate tourists. This highlights the city's inability to host many people at once and its housing emergency.  Leave it to ATRL to skew around the issue and weaponise it for stan wars. That concern trolling thread made some points.

Nothing in the article says anything about tourists being Americans. They can even be from other parts of the UK

This still confirms my theory that half of the people who attend her  concerts are Americans traveling to other places to see their queen. People outside the US don't know her or her music,  her fame and success are so fraudulent oh lord.
