But artists and individuals also participate in these destructive methods of exploitation, and they are at fault too. Acts like Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, Taylor, etc, are massive contributors to local market exploitative speculation and rampant housing crisis. Whilst they are mere participators in the game, they are ALSO to blame for the destructino of local cultures and housing markets, for they are both used to create those conditions whilst happily benefiting from them. I'm so so bored of people saying the blame is solely on local governments. Yes, mostly. but also if you WHILLINGLY participate in an exploitative and money-making project like this, well, that is on you as well. 3

glitch Posted May 30 Posted May 30 This is horrible. The fans should be the ones to get accommodation in Glasgow and Aberdeen if there's no space left in Edinburgh. It's only like 45 minutes on the train from Glasgow 5

TouchinFree Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Queen didn't stop at the environment and Global warming she said humanity needs to be included too. Diverse Queen. 1
liquiddiamonds Posted May 30 Posted May 30 This forum does not have the maturity to discuss a matter like this. Really unfortunate for the homeless population. And just so you know we can read between the lines that some of you think homeless people are all beggars or something. There are people with work and other personal commitments where they live in shelters 7 2

I'm sorry, no human being should be removed from their place to accommodate tourists for a few nights. Let alone homeless people who have no other choice. It's disgusting and indefensible. And pop artists have a lot to answer for too for these disgusting acts against humanity. 9

If U Seek Amy Posted May 30 Posted May 30 As if anyone here actually cares about these people. Y'all just like the opportunity to hate on Taylor 💀 1
Life Savers Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Not Taylor kicking all of these people out with her jet fumes! Drag her, ATRL.
Peak Now Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Of course the forum regulars are blaming this on Taylor rather than the city council that made this decision If she ordered this herself we'd expect this to happen on every stop on the tour no? 1
Phaunzie Posted May 30 Posted May 30 (edited) A menace to society. Swifties are so tone deaf, the way success and money matter but life doesn't. Capitalistic Shills the lot of them. @If U Seek Amy why would you say this? Clearly some of ATRL care about the homeless. Like do you go to the Civic and Lounge sections? The care and concern is there. Edited May 30 by Phaunzie
Mitsouko Posted May 30 Posted May 30 American stans traveling thousands of miles and spending thousands of dollars just to stay at the Ibis which was a shelter yesterday 5
Jack! Posted May 30 Posted May 30 (edited) Knowing Edinburgh this was probably the perfect storm for them to rehouse a sizeable amount of their homeless population and blame it on someone/something else. Quiet relocations to deprived pockets of Glasgow have been happening a lot recently. Regardless of them saying it's temporary, they'll see the financial gain of having shelters be sold at hotel prices and not let them back. Wouldn't be the first time a similar situation has happened. Edited May 30 by Jack! 2
Kavish Posted May 30 Posted May 30 The way you can tell who has read the article and who hasn't. Homeless people are being relocated temporarily to another shelter or hotel so that the city can accomodate tourists. This highlights the city's inability to host many people at once and its housing emergency. Leave it to ATRL to skew around the issue and weaponise it for stan wars. That concern trolling thread made some points. 4 1
WildHeart Posted May 30 Posted May 30 3 hours ago, Mr.X said: they are literally removing people from their accommodation to make room for american stans. Nothing in the article says anything about tourists being Americans. They can even be from other parts of the UK 3 hours ago, Mr.X said: And pop artists have a lot to answer for too for these disgusting acts against humanity. Why? They don't handle that. Go report that to someone who take care of that. Did you? 1 1
Papi Juancho Posted May 30 Posted May 30 This still confirms my theory that half of the people who attend her concerts are Americans traveling to other places to see their queen. People outside the US don't know her or her music, her fame and success are so fraudulent oh lord. And about this, I think it's not her fault. The government is doing it, not her. 1 1 2
