Yes, that is an extreme example but it shows that astrology can be a reason to cause harm to others.

I won't make a sweeping generalization about all people who believe in astrology but I'll just give a personal anecdote I experienced that made me sour on people who take astrology way too seriously in general - I  had a friend of mine in the past that was obsessed with astrology and it basically replaced religion in her life.  She would legitimately judge relationships, people and situations in her life based on sun, moon, rising placements, etc. I thought it was all fun and harmless at the time, but it turned out to be EXHAUSTING eventually. She also showed herself to be a narcissistic judgmental cvnt who always thought she was right because in her eyes, she was so "spiritually aligned" that everything was always everyone else's fault. I'm so grateful her and I fell out and she got out of my life.

You nailed it. People def use it as a crutch sometimes to excuse behavior of theirs they actually have FULL control over fixing/not doing, but they choose not to do because "well I'm just a _____, so it's in my nature" 

 

People also use it as an excuse to be incredibly judgmental of others with zero basis.
