Those of y'all getting so worked up because some people in this thread don't like this little stunt are just as weird as the people in here acting like it's the most profuse thing they've ever witnessed.

No one is required to scream "YAAAAS omg slay twink" because a gay male pop star pretended to deep throat a microphone. Troye did that because it was meant to be shocking and illicit a reaction and that's what people are doing- reacting.

Is it the craziest thing I've seen? No. Are some people doing the most over it? Idk, maybe. But it's a fact that doing stuff like this publicly isn't classy and it's definitely trashy and it's supposed to be, that's the point. So don't be offended when people who don't like trashy behavior say they don't like trashy behavior. Some of y'all are in your 30s acting like you need to defend this behavior with your life. There are more important issues going on in our world and even within our own community than some gays not liking oversexualization. Touch grass.

No one would care if the "this is reflecting on OUR community, THIS is why str8s think we're demons!!" comments weren't blatantly laden with internalized self hatred, anxiety and somehow blaming homophobia on our own community's doing

Sad yet predictable

For people saying stans applaud pop girls for simulating fellatio onstage, do they really? I actually think it's desperate and embarrassing no matter who does it.

At the same time, I am trying to interrogate my own biases. It's true that the oversexualized gay man trope is so cliche at this point (Nas X drove that bit into the ground) but at the same time people should be able to live their truth without judgement? It's just that using sex for attention is so done at this point. Like really? It's been 40 years since Madonna and we're still going there?

Nothing new, gay blowjobs were a thing since ancient time as seen on some old art drawings

The thing is no one is even simulating deepthroating (should actually watch the video). Hell even sayin that this is simulating oral is … stretching it since all he does in sing into the microphone (no gestures, no back and forth movement, etc. It's literally just a microphone pointing down as if it could be insinuated its a *****, him on his knees singing into the mic, and then they transition out). Like if we are actually doing comparisons:

1. Madonna rolling around in her wedding dress at the vmas simulating sex is worse.

2. Katy Perry actually simulating oral sex is worse.

3. Lady gaga simulating actual sex is worse.

4. Rih simulating actual sex is worse.

5. Taylor swift doing her floor work would be on par with this.

6. Every straight male artist simulating dry humping (both Justins, Usher, Drake, etc) is worse.

Lets not even get started with the rap girlies, the straight men like Chris Brown and Jason Derulo giving lap dances in their concert, or Pit Bull purposely wearing tight clothing so he can grab his buldge throughout his entire performances.

I'm sorry, if you actually have a problem with this you either:

1. Have never been to a concert for any mainstream artist on your life; or

2. Have internal homophobia and just trying to justify it.

I dont care if you like it or not, because its a cheap stunt and youre free to not like it. But acting like this is the reason straights hate us when every MPG and MPB has done worse is the most dumb thing on earth. Call me when he does the below at a concert.

Girl whatever :nicole2: we all know what Troye was trying to do with all that and it wasn't to be artistic and I'm not hating. I have no issue with it but I also don't get why we can't accept that some gay people don't like stuff like that. We're not all required to love the same **** and this is one of those things that I think is understandably not likeable to many people and that's fine

:rip: the rise of anti-sex sentiments is so weird to me. This is so tame. Me thinking he was doing more to have the girlies so upset

don't get me wrong, i've been a loyal fan since BN and i can kinda admit that this kinda thing has put me off him the tiniest bit. but at the end of the day the music is still good and he isn't doing too much where it's embarrassing/too vulgar so just leave him be, the majority of gays will live for this so he's v smart honestly :clap3:

Adam Lambert did this also, and I'm certain he wasn't the first.

In 2024, this is the equivalent of an artist going on stage and having a backdrop of "Illuminati"/occult symbols flashing behind them. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but omg it's boring.

If you're going to do sex, at least push the envelope or something :rip:

These comments are further proof than nobody on the planet is more homophobic than gay people themselves.

The bottom line is that some gay men believe we have to behave 'properly' so that others accept us. That's where this aversion is coming from. It happens within every marginalised community, up to and including women. You're expected to be a representative. Some women still look at sexual women and say "we fought so hard to be respected as equals."

This only doesn't happen within straight white men. Nobody would ever look at Nick Jonas stripping off and worry that it would harm the perception of straight white men.

It's really something to think about and ultimately unlearn.

the album he's touring is about casual sex and his feelings about different relationships he's had with people, the music videos reflect that and the concert reflects that. it's supposed to be sexy and fun, I don't even think it's supposed to be shocking.
