this is what you say when you can't write bridges like Lorde or Lana Del Rey

Or Olivia Rodrigo

The bridges on Driver's License and Good 4 U are sick. I wish Brutal was longer tho...

Whats next we dont need singers? Well in her case she uses the vocals of Chat GPT so i guess its true. :cm:

While she can clearly make short songs work, that's not something that we need in general, no.

Success is so wasted on some artists.

She is right and she should say it

The question was "why are your songs so short" and this was her reply...

Thank you for this, I will do my best to avoid her music from now on. :heart2:

i guess some songs are better left as short as they are...

but i'm actually mad that her song "Just For Me" is SO short because it's so good... it needed a bridge or like two more choruses :toofunny3:

Well, at least, she has a ton of lyrics in her 2:30 songs, and she can set a vibe in every one of them.

But overall, I kinda disagree.

This is the #1 thing I hate about the music industry nowadays.  A track without a bridge and final chorus isn't a song, it's an interlude.  Anyone releasing this type of music doesn't care about making art, they're just after a quick lil Tik Tok viral sound and I have no respect for it.  I think most of them are being pushed in this direction by labels who are trying to conserve money and maximize streams, but apparently there are some, like this woman, who actually prefer this type of music.  Yikes.

Like others have said, the bridge is THE most important part of the song.  Strong bridges are one of the reasons artists like Taylor, Mariah, and Beyonce have been able to build such impressive careers.  Olivia is a good example of someone who's on the right track.  Meanwhile Tate McRae (who I like) is on her way to being a fleeting fad due to Think Later's half-baked collection of 2 minute duds.

The reactions in here.....you'd think she was the spokesperson for the entire music industry. :biblio: TikTok is certainly to blame although that's pretty much why she blew up in the first place nnnn

Anyways, I disagree completely with her. Bridges especially can save a whole song. However shorter songs do work for her although her longer ones work too so idk

i agree with her, let's bring back old school short songs

This works for her music but doesn't need to be a standard. Long songs>>>>

I guess we'll never get a 9 minute epic like this from her. Shame.

Well, she's certainly entitled to her wrong opinion.

Billie just released an album with multiple 5-minute songs, she's NOT on the same boat as Miss Ringtones :deadbanana4:

ntm, billie's album is only a few mins longer than pinkpantheress' and the later's album was entirely written AND produced by herself

No wonder she has no classics.

Let people do their own version of a song.

Sure, there are great short songs, but songs can be long too, and have intros, bridges and outros!
