glitch Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I think some songs do work shorter but there's a certain type of pop song that feels a bit rushed? Greedy by Tate McRae for example. The song has 3 verses and 3 choruses but I can't help but feel as though it was longer originally and they cut it down to make it as short as possible. I think not having 3 choruses is completely unforgivable though.
Loca Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Many of the all-time great songs do not have a bridge, or any discernible structure whatsoever. The real problem here is that she is not capable of creating those. 2 2 1
zach Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Songs don't NEED to be over 3 mins long or have long intros or outros, but they do NEED bridges.

They can bring movement, urgency, uncertainty, humor, a respite, so many things. They can transform what is a very good song into a classic record. Even though the lengths are slightly little longer than what she's saying, eternal sunshine is a great modern example that songs can be concise AND well conceptualized. Many of those songs have bridges even though you might not expect them to with their runtimes, and they benefit greatly from them. Exactly! Ariana did such a great job on that album. Other artists should take notes!
kayliah Posted May 27 Posted May 27 a 3 mins to 3.20 mins song is better. You get 2 verses 2 choruses a bride and outro/last chorus.

selena_lavigne Posted May 27 Posted May 27 She finally released a tolerable song. Let's focus on that.
Erreur2 La Nature Posted May 27 Posted May 27 We don't need music, it's just an entertainment so let's ask musicians to stop creating music !
Kern Posted May 27 Posted May 27 First 3 hour shows, now songs with bridges… Gen Z are coming for Taylor

modeblock Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Now Victoria, your 2 minute jingles are fabulous, but we NEED bridges like the one in Criminal by Britney Spears or in Cardigan by Taylor Swift. They are vital to keeping pop songs FRESH and interesting for years to come. I hope she learns from the homosexual lashing coming her way.
Vrx. Posted May 27 Posted May 27 She can't be serious when bridges are historically legit the best parts of songs
305 Posted May 27 Posted May 27 Billie and her are single handedly going to be the reason why pop stars are getting lazier

"bye" being 2:44 in length yet served us: [INTRO] [VERSE 1] [PRE-CHORUS] [CHORUS] [VERSE 2] [PRE-CHORUS] [CHORUS] [BRIDGE] [CHORUS]
TayGod Posted May 27 Posted May 27 There are two takes that I have on this. 1) The labels probably want short songs. That way, they can get more songs out there. They are about the business and not the artistry. At least Taylor practically owns her own music alone and can get away with writing ten-minute songs if she wants. 2) Writing a bridge requires great artistic stretch that many artists might not have. You can write a verse and chorus, but then you don't have the artistry to create a bridge. So maybe Pinkpantheress is incapable of creating a bridge.
