Almost 400k in week 5 is crazy even for Taylor's standards. And all that without a monster hit like Antihero was or Q4 boost.

If her team continues to slowly deliver the album, she's going to stick around for a while at #1. SOS was tough competition for Midnights and there's nothing like it on the radar. Maybe SZA's own Lana or if Kendrick capitalizes on his beef and drop a record. To a lesser extent Noah Kahan if he drops his new album hastly, since Stick Season has been quite the sleeper hit. But none of them have dates, so the field is open for Taylor

TTPD did 240k this week purely from streaming and sales, without any boosted sales. That's a whole 70k more than Morgan in the same time period.

So as long as she does another batch of signed CDs just in case some fool wants to drop near her, then she should have the #1 for quite some time.

I can foresee 9 months from now when all new releases are cleared, Morgan and TTPD will be having #1 battles at 65k units

You talk as though she's doing some wack stuff to get herself up there on the chart.

? I clearly didn't mention that. You are actually hyper defensive because she was dragged this week by other fanbases for shipping her copies this week. In case you don't know other major hip hop artists usually debut with sales above 200k, which means that if her sales decrease to such level she might lose #1. The names I mentioned are the ones that can surely go north of 300k and offer some real competition for the spot just like Billie did. Her totals increased almost 50% from last week. Get a clue. It's a fair strategy and I just said it as it is

Oh I was talking about the female record, though I had no idea the male record was that far out of reach.

It's no match for the biggest artist of all time, male or female

A big misunderstanding; I read your "slow delivery" comment wrong as I thought u meant she was slowly shipping out leftover pre orders to keep herself at 200k or something. I then realized what u mean want by "slow delivery" as in "delayed delivery", which is what she did.

I dont have an ounce of Sh1t to give about what those flopped bases said last week. I wasnt even on here. Just a little misunderstanding.

anyhow, yea if she do more slow deliveries and safeguard herself from big drops then she could be on the top spot for a while

SOS has tied Midnights at 68 weeks in the Top 10. Is 21 the only album ahead now on the list for female artists?

Theres  still Alanis

Tho its not comparable when SOS has two weeks in the sales top ten

Like how dangerous isn't twice as popular as thriller, with less than ten weeks in the sales top ten

Congrats Billie, nothing bad getting blocked by better and greater album by legendary breathing artist :clap3:

Still a win for both parties.

If the variants war didn't happen, Billie might debut at #1, but probably wouldn't surpass WWAFAWDWG?'s debut week.
I'd rather take a career-high #2 debut week, rather than debuting at #1 with lower units.

An iconic week.

Should combine everything to that HDD thread for historical purpose

Congrats to Billie for a commendable debut. I hope the other person finds the high she so dastardly chases.

Billie's fans are acting like Billie is competing with Taylor's first week sales

Do people need reminding that this is Taylor's 5th week

  • Thanks 12

this thread is quiet. if billie had been #1 and taylor had been #2, this thread would've had at least 20 pages at this point.

it really shows you who causes conversations around here.

anyway, congrats to billie. good album and good sale :clap3::clap3::clap3:

Oh in that case
Whitney Houston: Whitney (13 weeks)

Adele: 25 (7 weeks)
SZA: SOS (7 weeks)

Janet Jackson: Janet. (6 weeks)
Norah Jones: Feels Like Home (6 weeks)
Susan Boyle: I Dreamed A Dream (6 weeks)
Taylor Swift: Folklore (6 weeks)

Adele: 30 (6 weeks)

Shania Twain: Up! (5 weeks)

Taylor Swift: The Tortured Poets Department (5 weeks)

TLC: Fanmail (4 weeks)

And then lots more below that. Red, 1989, and Reputation all did 3 weeks as well.
(ignore me editing this post a bunch of times bc I sorted the columns in the spreadsheet wrong and ****** up the formula I was using to work this out)

You know what, maybe Taylor should let Eminem to have 1 week at #1 just to make the eyelashes fume even harder. :fan:

Anyway, to non-insane people: does anyone have Morgan's first 10 week numbers? Cus TTPD could be off to the same trajectory both numbers and chart wise :biblionny:

Week 5 streams

TTPD: 216.9 m

One Thing At A Time: 215.58 m

Most likely TTPD's last week to stay above OTaaT in streams

Week 6 streams

One Thing At A Time: 211.05 m

TTPD: ?

Apple Music US right now:

18: Last Night (15 months old)

20: Fortnight (1 month old)

Oooops missed that announcement, but also without a date lol So add him to that batch that might clear 300k. In rap there's both Cole and Carti with albums announced, title and all, but also no date. They clear 200k with their fanbases. Cole might underperform after the Kendrick mess, so he's been low profile. I think he will only drop past summertime once Not Like Us has died down. Carti has been teasing his new album forever. They would probably not beat Taylor now at 300k, but we're looking at four or five weeks from now at least. She has a good shot at the record
