Control made #42 on Apple's 100 Greatest Albums list.

janet, Rhythm Nation & The Velvet Rope did not make the list

They had to minimize the number of albums each artist have on the list.

RN is my favorite among the three.

Rhythm Nation and The Velvet Rope are her best albums in my opinion but Control is a great album and a classic too so I'm not mad

Well yes but Control is still fantastic and shits on discographies despite being her (in my opinion) 3rd best album so I'll take it. The perks of having a discography as strong as Janet's

Control ranks among her best albums and is full of classics. It might be my favourite of hers after RN

Control  and RN were always the people's choice. Velvet Rope gets a lot of love nowadays but it's more of a cult classic than the other two.

janet. deserved the title as her best album, but I guess they didn't like Throb.

Didn't velvet rope have her biggest hit before All For You?

That was janet., with "That's the Way Love Goes". Which was Janet's longest running number one hit and it won a grammy for best R&B song of 1993.

RN is her best album and also the best album of all time (that is a conversation for another day tho) but Control is also a classic so I'm not mad.

I would love to see Janet. get her flowers too someday, gorgeous album:gaycat7:

They didn't actually. They are wrong for not including Rhythm Nation nor Janet.

Janet's album run from 1996 to 2004 was truly something.

Control (1986)

Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989)

Janet (1993)

The Velvet Rope (1997)

All for You (2001)

Damita Jo (2004)

:jonnycat:

20 Y.O. is top tier too!

Each of those albums deserved to be on the list.

it's not my favourite Janet album but what's more concerning is how low it is on their list

Is it my favourite? No. Do I understand why it was chosen? Yes. Do I understand why it's her only album listed? Hell no.

It's not her best, but it is her most impactful (popularized NJS), so the choice makes sense .

Yes, they lied but the fact she ranked so high is incredible. They ranked Janet above Kate Bush and Bjork. :jonny5:

She easily outranks all her female peers: Madonna (#77), Whitney (NA), Mariah (NA).

They should've chose The Velvet Rope but Control is an undeniable classic. Control also appeared for the first time on Rolling Stone's Top 500 list in 2020 at #111 (Janet has 3 albums on that list). With each passing year her discography gets more and more respect and acclaim!

They did lie. It's the weakest of her "Big 4", but it's still very good.
