She and Finneas will be in NY on the 15th for the listening party, so I'm guessing she'll have other obligations there. Hopefully a Howard Stern interview is one of them 2
LostInStereo100 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 With how big streaming got this year, I can't wait to see her pull massive numbers. Potential to be huge! Shes not releasing anything before the album right? 2
bad guy Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Worst timing ever in terms of the Hot 100 but the pre-orders are selling like hot cakes so I smell a smash album yet again 12

I believe HTE was ahead in preorders at this point comparably. I don't think she's going to have much chart success with this one realistically but it's still shaping up to be her best project critically.

I'm not sure about that, HTE had 150k pure sales after 3 months of pre-orders and multiple singles. Signs are pointing towards HMHAS having a stronger pure sales debut, especially if the album resonates with the GP. 8

Is it bad or are people waking up and realizing they should release their songs and complete bodies of work even if they don't top the charts because the kind of fans that stay for life care more about the music than success? And waiting to release when the biggest artists are not releasing is barely going to change numbers. It will LOOK LIKE your album is more successful on the charts but ACTUALLY your song will probably perform exactly the same. Edited May 11 by selena_lavigne 2

Nope definitely not a bad thing, people just want to see their favorite artists do well commercially. I agree that, in reality, the numbers don't change much - just looks like it's different because of competition. Well, that and the fact that there can only be one #1 debut for the week on all the charts. 1

Well, that and the fact that there can only be one #1 debut for the week on all the charts. Tbh i only started caring about numbers after joining ATRL. Selena's songs used to always land between #20 and #30 and i was always fine with it. But then they were like SELENA IS NOT A MPG SHE NEEDS A #1 so then i was waiting on my #1 for YEARS AND THEN WE WENT #1 😭😭😭😭😭 Edited May 11 by selena_lavigne 2

I mean she milked HTE for all it was worth and that rollout was so long and agonizing that people kinda checked out when she finally dropped I don't see her streaming numbers doing worse than HTE since the hype is still there. I just don't think she's snatching a #1 anytime soon (but I also didn't think she would even without Kendrick's cultural moment). Billie's a weird case where her biggest hits have relatively "weak" chart stats (lovely, WTPO, ocean eyes, HTE, Bored) and her actual weak songs have "good" chart stats (TIA, my future, Your Power). The Hot 100 is kinda irrelevant when it comes to her success. If Lunch, Chihiro, or any other track even cracks Top 10 that's a win to me. I guess the only concern I have is if she's going to put in the work to make sure this short album has legs. Part of the reason HTE finally got its flowers was because of all the effort she put in promo and festivals. If she does that again + multiple visuals I think the era will do great. 7 1

She's never ever been a charts artist and her biggest success was Bad Guy, other than that she's known for just having quality work that remain relevant and stable. 2
slw84 Posted May 11 Posted May 11 I don't think HOT 100 is an issue. She has longevity. BB 200 is going to be more worthwhile. 5

I didn't know that Billie is a longevity girl so she could have chances to hit #1 in the future. Her album needs to be another cultural phenomenon that moves the needle forward. Impact is Billie's thing not top 10 peaks. I feel like she is going to overperform tbh. 6
dreww Posted May 12 Posted May 12 100k pure sales She may match / come close to HTE (150K) first week pure sales, which when taken in consideration HMHAS had like 1/3 of the time available to pre order, is pretty good As long as she does well streaming wise I have no concern she won't outsell hte overall first week. 2
