SupremeGoddess Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Conman Carter is genuinely an amazing brilliant record, of course the academy would recognize it Whether you like Bey or not, whether the album performed well or not, talent is objective. Sure it may not be your cup of tea, but the record is objectively good and that's what the academy needs to recognize at the end of the day 8 4
MatiRod Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) 'Javelin' should've been an album of the year nominee, that's the biggest snub IMO. This was the perfect album to finally recognize Sufjan with. Oh well. Edited November 8 by MatiRod 3
OhMyAlf Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Feeling real smug right now, my personal AOTY I see the "she bought her nominations" "completely undeserved" crowd is out in full force, deflecting because their fav didn't get any anywhere near as many, but you can bet if they had they wouldn't be screaming it was undeserved then 3

Yes we all know she's a hard worker behind the scenes which leads her to putting works out at a quality far above the status quo which inevitably sees her being recognized for it at the Grammys. 7

I feel like we should all be able to agree that even tho we are aware how BNA works it's still a bit weird for someone like Sabrina to be getitng a nom there I get it tho and I'm personally not mad, but it's in fact weird, they should change the rules again and adjust them. Obviously what happened with Gaga was dumb and the rule had to be changed, but this is also kinda dumb too nn. 1
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted November 8 Posted November 8 They probably figured they nominated Future nostalgia enough
Everyperfectsummer Posted November 8 Posted November 8 How did Us by Gracie and Taylor get nominated? Not even their stans like that song 1 5
Kiall Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Beautiful Things (and Lose Control) being snubbed when with Espresso they are the biggest songs of the year... And then you all talk about the girls being snubbed when they get nominated with much less successful songs 😵💫 1

They should change the name of the category to Breakout Artist of the Year because that's probably what the category should be. 2
Scheissex Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I don't even like Ariana that much but Eternal Sunshine was an excellent album! It deserved an AOTY nod. But it was a jam packed year. For my own safety, not even going to comment on Cowboy Snoozer... 2

Surely there must be far more desperate artists than Beyoncé, a woman who has barely touched her project since release, who hasn't so much as put out one real video nor staged a performance. 5
Disconnect Posted November 8 Posted November 8 (edited) Well I'm not even an Arianator but it's lame how Ari, Nicki and Abel are constantly snubbed and Ari is literally friends with the two of them. Also Lana who's Abel friend. I mean, is there a conspiracy against them? I totally think TUN deserved AOTY in 2019 . Edited November 8 by Disconnect
Blackout2006 Posted November 8 Posted November 8 7 minutes ago, Disconnect said: I also think those two albums were just better in quality overall than ES. Ariana's creative peak as TUN and Positoins tbh. ES was better than Positions for me, IMO, and I do think it's a good album. However, such stellar music came out this year that it feels so redundant for Ariana to have returned with a safe Rn'B-pop album while most of the pop girls were doing something different. It's unfortunate she didn't even get a single award for the TU,N album or singles cuz she really shined in that record. 4

BGKC Posted November 8 Posted November 8 They're probably begging her to perform. Yall will say it had no impact, but all it would take is a performance for her to eat the others girls up that night. Performing American Requiem in particular after this Trump win (thanks GP) would be a whole serve, but she won't perform at all. 9 1
Noodles Posted November 8 Posted November 8 10 minutes ago, MusicIsMyMaster said: and once again, underserved... like what why is she most nominated?? im sorry the album is great and all but it legit didn't have any impact. at this point its become a joke and she will get called out for it. Not a Jlo fan 14 1
Shinning Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Actually major. SO deserved. Imagine if she won AOTY. I know it's unlikely (pretty sure Billie has it in the bag) but it would actually be world shattering.
