Saintlor Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) OpenAI's CEO tweeted her (which is the name of the AI film starring Joaquin Phoenix and ScarJo) before the launch of their new update, which from a legal standpoint could kind of confirm they were copying or at least very inspired by her voice. It went quite viral that the voice of their new product sounds exactly like her and now I guess ScarJo's team have found out. Quote We've heard questions about how we chose the voices in ChatGPT, especially Sky. We are working to pause the use of Sky while we address them." Quote We believe that AI voices should not deliberately mimic a celebrity's distinctive voice—Sky's voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson but belongs to a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice. To protect their privacy, we cannot share the names of our voice talents. https://openai.com/index/how-the-voices-for-chatgpt-were-chosen/ Videos of their new launch which is accused of sounding a lot like ScarJo: UPDATE: Scarlett's statement Quote "Last September, I received an offer from Sam Altman, who wanted to hire me to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system. He told me that he felt that by my voicing the system, I could bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and help consumers to feel comfortable with the seismic shift concerning humans and Al. He said he felt that my voice would be comforting to people. After much consideration and for personal reasons, declined the offer. Nine months later, my friends, family and the general public all noted how much the newest system named "Sky" sounded like me. When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference. Mr. Altman even insinuated that the similarity was intentional, tweeting a single word "her" - a reference to the film in which | voiced a chat system, Samantha, who forms an intimate relationship with a human. Two days before the ChatGPT 4.0 demo was released, Mr. Altman contacted my agent, asking me to reconsider. Before we could connect, the system was out there. As a result of their actions, I was forced to hire legal counsel, who wrote two letters to Mr. Altman and OpenAl, setting out what they had done and asking them to detail the exact process by which they created the "Sky" voice. Consequently, OpenAl reluctantly agreed to take down the "Sky" voice. In a time when we are all grappling with deepfakes and the protection of our own likeness, our own work, our own identities, I believe these are questions that deserve absolute clarity. I look forward to resolution in the form of transparency and the passage of appropriate legislation to help ensure that individual rights are protected." Edited May 20 by Saintlor 1 1

Sombre Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Sam is a clown, he's trying to make open-source LLM illegal on the basis that it's a dangerous precedent, although most developers agree that open source is better for security than private. Scarlet is reaching though. 6
Mr.X Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Good for her. I hope OpenAI and all AI agencies get the chop. Most useless and destructive development of our lifetime. 6 3

Assassin Posted May 20 Posted May 20 (edited) I haven't watched "Her" but that doesn't like ScarJo to me. Also, I see no one reporting that ScarJo sued them. Maybe they realized it sounded a bit like her and decided to change it before they get sued. Edited May 20 by Assassin

NoOneDiesFromLove Posted May 20 Posted May 20 I had no idea about this and decided to try the new voices a couple days ago and the moment I heard Sky I was shocked it sounded to much like Samantha from Her and now with that tweet… yeah. Easy win for Scarlett 1
Hephaestus Posted May 20 Posted May 20 lmao did NO ONE at OpenAI watch Her? That's suspiciously similar to Scarlett's voice, good for her if she's actually suing

dumbsparce Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Why is she always involved in some high-tec/sci-fi ****? From Lucy, to ghost in the box (?), to this.. what do tech companies see in her to make her their template?
brazil Posted May 20 Posted May 20 All of my friends talked about how it sounded like SJ in Her when we first heard it. These companies need to be held accountable and/or get better legal advice to do # like this 2
