Make it make sense The irony of y'all claiming that Taylor is shilling the same bland sludge to her brainwashed minions over and over but you'd also rather the variants be more similar I've been collecting vinyls for about 7 years now and it's pretty standard practise to have coloured variants. Yes you can collect all of them if you wish but there is a pretty noticeable difference between "pick the blue or red variant" and "LOOK! If you purchase 4 separate vinyls you can make a CLOCK!" Play dumb if it makes you feel better. The irony is that Swifties have been quoting me about this debate despite the fact I own a physical copy of every Taylor release since Fearless. There's this strange Swiftie hive mind where if you criticise anything even adjacent to Taylor's practises then you're automatically a rabid hater. Edited May 19 by Both Sides Now 8 8

PoisonedIvy Posted May 19 Posted May 19 So no, Billie is not wrong for fighting for #1, neither is Taylor. No artist ever is. It is their job and they should push to reach new heights for as long as they have the ambition to do so. 2
Peak Now Posted May 19 Posted May 19 The way I believe most of us think that chart tactics are fair game for anyone-- a #1 is always good for bragging rights-- but y'all really need to pretend that Billie doesn't care about the charts just to heighten the contrasts between her and the evil capitalistic Shake It Off singer the self-own tbh 6

I mean a lot of Swifties do have weird double standards against Taylor. Not going to accuse you of anything, of course, but I have seen way too many Swifties subscribe to this weird purity culture mentality that their fave has to be this squeaky-clean girlie who believes in everything they believe in (but not for anyone else because frankly they don't gaf), and if she's not cue the 20-tweet threads on how she's Literally Satan. I think this is probably parasocialism but whatever. I still fail to see how the "clock" thing is much different from any other variant ever, nor how it warrants any continued discussion in the year of our Lord 2024 before you hit me with the "incentivizing" do you really think anyone who wasn't going to buy all four colors would've changed their mind due to that?

There's this strange Swiftie hive mind where if you criticise anything even adjacent to Taylor's practises then you're automatically a rabid hater. Thank you for being one of the few people with a brain in this thread. — The girls being purposefully ignorant about having different tracks on distinct physicals versions will never not be funny. The fact that you CANNOT own a sole physical copy of TTPD that has all the songs is the problem, different colors of vinyl with the SAME track list will NEVER be the same thing, nor does it promote the same level of consumerism. People really think printing 50,000 copies of black vinyl is somehow more ecologically friendly than printing 10,000 blue, 10,000 red, 10,000 yellow, 10,000 green, and 10,000 black. That being said, pressing vinyl in any way shape of form is going to have some ecological repercussions, but it's crazy how some people exaggerate the color variants as some sort of manipulative capitalist scheme when having tracks gatekept to a certain version does much much worse not only for the fans' pockets, but also for the environment. 3 8 3
