Well... that's just it. Nobody here cares when Billie does it but you were all having insane meltdowns when Taylor did it not even 48 hours ago.

It's almost as if the moralistic posturing from y'all was dumb and inconsistent to begin with!

Im quoting you bc you're the 66th comment I read saying this, so it's not directed only at you, but don't you think it's a bit different if a newly released album is competing for #1 compared to an album that's been #1 for an entire month, just to (seemingly) block said newly released album?

1. The price is kinda irrelevant when the gap is $4.

2. It's still one additional version of the album you can buy, it doesn't matter if people that already bought the album can get it for free, in fact, the most diehard fans will probably buy it either way from another email account.

3. Whispers are part of the vocals of a song so yeah, in a sense she does serve vocals.

1. Not really when that's an 40% discount :rip: (but I don't think discounting is in any shape or form tbh)

2. Since this would be done to purposely inflate her sales they could do this with the regular version as well, so where is the impact of that 2nd version ?

3. Do you like the comments saying taylor can't sing? She doesn't just whisper, idk if you're joking or serious but neither is true. Taylor can sing and billie doesn't whisper on the album, at least not for the majority of it.

Why does Taylor need -not- push for #1 in her fifth week is the more profound question. There is no reason for any business entity to fall on the sword so that someone else can emerge victorious. You can call it cold or calculated or whatever but that's the nature of any competitive industry.

There's the artistic side of music and there's the business side. The charts serve as the metric by which music as a business is measured, and in no timeline would all of the people on Taylor's team / label feel the need to "extend grace" to a contemporary (when Billie isn't even really Taylor's contemporary, mind you).

The opposing sports team does not extend the courtesy of giving their opponents chances to score more points just because they're ahead after the first half. Taylor is a competitive, ambitious player and she has made that clear. The charts are not about taking turns and sharing success, they're a competitive leaderboard keeping score of key performance metrics.

Who else is pulling these stunts for multiple weeks at no1? Not Morgan Wahlen not Adele not SZA not Harry. Debut week is one thing. It might be the norm in the swiftie echo chamber but not industry-wide. Stop hiding behind competition. I work in the corporate sphere and there's such a thing as equity and ethics. What exactly will a forced 5th week at no1  do for Taylor at this juncture in her career?

She won't rest until she has 200 albums to fill up the chart herself it seems.

Nothing Taylor is doing is unethical, she's not assassinating anyone's character or making defamatory statements about her competitors or bribing consumers or anything of that nature. The "ethics" in question here are "she doesn't need to try to stay the #1 album for so long, she should let another artist try to get it!" But.. what moral code is she breaking by not doing that? She's self serving and success driven, yeah, but that's not really unethical. Just selfish at best.

Not really since Britney has a pretty good discography with songs like Toxic and Breathe On Me that stomp on any Taylor Swift song or whatever you call it.

I wouldn't call it unethical but yea, nobody is doing this much on the fifth week of their album release. Especially if they are an established artist and the album is already the best-selling album of the year. Why she needs to sabotage a new release by a young pop artist is beyond my understanding.

Lol at the swifties crying in here :gaycat2:

Your own fave made this a new trend, now you gotta live with it. She also STARTED this war to secure another #1 at the top since she was scared Billie was coming for the #1.

Anyways let me order the Ray of light of our times in accepella. I hope she releases instrumentals next

This forum is here literally thanks to Britney and her discography. Seriously mods need to urgently test every user on simple pop culture and revoke the accounts of those who fail it.

OT: the album is so good I'll buy every version of this 2x Oscar winning singer!

Why does Tayloe need to push for no1 in her 5th week? There's being competitive, there's also graciousness. Taylor had the wherewithal to move her release dates for the likes of Paul McCartney and Adele in the past so we're not gonna pretend these pushes are random. Why does she not extend that same grace to a fellow contemporary?

No one said anything when she held off Dua from the no1 spot cus that was organic. With Katy, Olivia, recently, Sabrina, and now, Billie, it seems quite pointed and deliberate.

It's obtuse for yall to act like it's just business as usual. Taylor's more calculated than that; give her the credit.

You know for a fact that you would never say these same thing to a male artist. And you know it.

"This product has been updated and enhanced to include a special version with Billie's isolated vocals from the album."

"if you already bought the digital album, you will automatically get the download on Monday, 5/20."

So, it's a bonus digital edition that anybody who has ALREADY gotten the digital version through her website will get.

How is that comparable to Taylor Swift's rabid, ever-consuming desperation?
